has any one here recently got their Voter ID cards? Can you please guide me on how to get one?

I think this will be ideal time to get one as elections are fast approaching.

Thanks.

Ordeal ... I went through

Today evening while returning from Marathalli,  while I was driving along with my friend, a guy on Yamaha takes a left cut in front of me. It was such an extreme cut, I somehow saved the guy and in return screamed and asked to drive properly. The guy and pillion riders stare at me, but I continued on my way.

After a while, they overtake me and ask to stop. I stopped and they started screaming. I started explaining that what he had done was wrong. In no mood to listen, they both start landing blows on me. And they thunder," you come to our area and scream at us, how dare you?". They beat me black and blue and you know what all the people in crowd around were saying, "Yeh , they speak hindi. They cant scream at them. and all started murmuring against us"

Seeing the crowd support for them, I continually said "Sorry" while both were landing blows on me and my friend as well. No one from the crowd even mediated. Some how when they saw blood on my face, they left after hitting me badly in my stomach.

Lakes and Land Use

India has a total land area of 328 Million Hectare (MH), out of which 162 MH have already come in to cultivation. This is a high percentage of 51% of the total land of the country. The forest and natural vegetation area is about 19.25%, which is less than an optimum of about 33.33%. Photographic proof from satellite imaginary seems to have proved this beyond doubt. Forest (green) is important for keeping the CO2 balance in the atmosphere.

BBMP election - candidate information

The election for the bbmp is around the corner, at this point of time giving ideas is late, but atleast the future elctions can take up these actions.

Election commision should also go into latest technology by promoting a website, saving paper, allowing every candidate some particular byte space to write about himself, this accessible to all citizens. We citizens have never heard of the candidate who contests and the busy professionals dont take time to find out about the candidate.

I suggest that all the candidates contesting,

1)  mention the ward he is contesting, born and eduated place and institution. with his family details and  his motto.

 2) the party he is representing

 3) Brief history when he enterd the politics, year to year which party he was in, his position from which party he held, reason for leaving the party to join the next party,

 4) disclosure of his assets, what is his business, what is his income, what are the servces he has achieved during his tenure.

5) what are his administration skills,

49-O : option to vote for nobody

every one who is grieving about the civic problems not addressed in your area . take action. this is the only cahnce in four years you get to address the problem.

JNNURM progress update report

I came across this interesting document while surfing around on the BBMP website for Qtr2 09-10.  It is a fairly large report sent to quarterly to the central government on the status of various JNNURM projects implemented by the BBMP.  It makes interesting reading.  I think a careful perusla and analysis will shed a lot of light on how projects are run and the attitude of the govt officials towards the public.

Here is a snapshot from the item on the Tagore circle underpass.

Tender release date: 25/09/2007, Scheduled date: October 2008

Budget: 2318 lakhs

Reason for delay: Project not started due to non-cooperation by the public.MLA intervention is sought. Issue is being "solved".

Eh? The public is an impediment. in the path of progress.  A problem!

Private Universities

Amid protests and dharna from the opposition Congress and the JD(S), the Legislative Assembly on Friday adopted the Azim Premji University Bill, 2010, thus paving the way for the state’s first private university aimed at improving the quality of primary and higher education by providing training to teachers. The Alliance University Bill, 2010, another private university Bill, was also passed in the Assembly.

Both the Bills were adopted through the voice vote as the opposition parties staged a dharna in the well of the House, insisting on a joint select committee (JSC) of the house for a thorough deliberation on the Bill before getting it passed by the legislature. Opposition leader in the Assembly expressed fears that the passage of the Bill would open the floodgate for private universities in the absence of any set of regulations to govern them. Instead of placing a Bill for an individual university, the government should bring in a comprehensive private university Bill while listing out elaborate guidelines, they demanded.

Fire Safety - project to bring awareness and seriousness

Project number:3185
Opened by:Ravi_D
Opened on:Saturday, 13 March 2010 - 9:13am
Last modified:Wednesday, 6 October 2010 - 9:36am
Operations:add Case | view all project cases
Project to generate awareness and seriousness about Fire Safety norms for buildings in Bangalore

This project is coming out comments like these (Awareness, Citizen's audit) from Major Kapur, Ravi_D and others on the discussions we had about incidents at Carlton Tower. Remember, it could be the mall you visit, or your office building next, and fire breakout is always one accident away.

Safety at Elevated Hosur Road (BETL)

Believe it or not, Hosur Road Flyover witnessed multiple vehicle accidents at least 2 times involving 4 or more vehicles. Few accidents even caused damage to median, any one can see it clearly. 2 Fatal accidents have also occured. Pity ! - A local "breaking news" channel did not get these news, while they get news within minutes from any part of city. I suspect their mouth was shut by "Kaibisi"(Some offer) . When I drove I felt like driving in tunnel, not comfortable. I saw average speed of 90+Km when I drew. Ironically during a test of VMS(variable message system) it read "All is well. Drive slowly" !!!

Now I am scared to drive even below flyover in regular road, as I heard of an accident where a biker flew above side-guards and fell below onto road( and died of course). I always drive exactly below the flyover(rightmost lane) to be safe from falling objects, call me whatever..

To BETL : All the best for your toll collection which is going to start  "soon" (Soon - Answer I got when I asked some people at toll. No dates, no certainity) . Make sure your customers reach other end for sure.
