BBMP

  • BBMP's Koramangala flyover - wanna track it to death?

BBMP website's RTI section has the RFP uploaded for grade separator being planned at the junction of 100 ft Inner Ring Road in Koramangala (click here). How about an experiment to give chance for members, even the remote/online-only ones, to go beyond posts and comments? Its simple - help us track this project to death, meaning, ask BBMP for details at every milestone.

  • Meeting BBMP - updated.

Based on some discussions we have been having here on the subject of planned development, its time to organize a Praja-style meeting with BBMP.

  • Small money corruption - why BBMP why?

Assuming Mr Basavaraj Itnaal got his facts right in this Deccan Herald news story, what does it say? Thats why we keep saying - proactive disclosure is a must. Do nothing else BBMP, just do this. Just put details of all your activities - planned expense, actual expense, receipts reports - on your pubilc website.

  • 2000 acres for IT park, what about other things?

    Urban DevelopmentGovernance

I am terribly sorry. But I have an issue with developments like these - new IT park on 2000 acres around the city (source: DH). No, I am not going to speak the beaten line of farmland acquisition. I am not anti development at all, but I speak for us, the urban dwellers who lead close to miserable lives in this city today.

The government is setting up a sprawling IT park on 2,000 acres around the City to create the much-needed space for IT firms to expand their activities.

Wonderful news, and the plans look good. But lets do some maths now.

  • Urgent - have your say on the magic boxes!

First few thru the Magic Box

Here is a request from a long time Praja member (see email pasted below). Apparently, the ongoing efforts (to slow down the magic boxes) in the High Court might be driven by those who may prefer flyovers over magic boxes. We don't want to get in these battles as there is no way to prove things one way or another. But, if you believe that Bengaluru should first do due diligence with magic boxes before considering flyovers as solution at any intersection, please pitch in by sending a postal letter to BBMP as soon as you can.

  • Road near NGEF - when?

The Railway Road Line in Sadanand Nagar near NGEF has been closed for almost 4 months now.

The Alternate road is in shambles. The residents of the area are finding it difficult to commute. Buses run only one way.

Autos refuse to come to the layout.

And no end in sight in spite of promises by the Local MLA Mr Reghu and all the officials concerned.

    God save us.

  • This morning on Mysore Road

I’m new to Praja and this is my first post. My apologies if I managed to mess things up posting this. Ha, and thanks to folks who were so cordial at the TWG meeting on Saturday!

Travelling this morning on Mysore Road, got caught in a big mess. Unusual that early in the morning. Cause: Vrushabhavati Drain at the ORR junction obviously overflowed after rains last night. Intersection was full of a grand mixture of mud, litter and water. Crews were trying to clean up in the middle of the traffic. And that too with their hands! Not a single clean-up machine at work.

  • Joints on KR Market Flyover

[We get a good number of emails like these, just goes to show the need for a complaints system. This one is for BBMP, mailed in by Mr Shenoy (full name withheld for privacy reasons)]

  • BBMP doing bus bays for BMTC - slow progress?

    Traffic

    tout

Late last year (Nov 2007), we were told read about BMTC requesting BBMP for 140 bus bays. Refer this Nov 07 Hindu article:

The Traffic Engineering Cell (TEC) of the BBMP has ... invited tenders for 100 bus bays out of 140 proposed by the BMTC ... official of the cell told The Hindu that construction was likely to begin in a month and completed in three months.
