BBMP now in tree nurturing mode

While doing up the footpaths/ roads, a few years back, the paving/ concreting was done almost choking the tree trunks/ roots, as seen in the pictures below:

A non-stop Fast Public Transport Service on Elevated Road from Silkboard To Electronic City

A few days back, I had to go to Electronics city with a friend of mine, I rarely go towards that side (Hosur Road) generally. And that was the first time, we took the Elevated Flyover over the Hosur Road. I thought of an idea/suggestion that if a BMTC mini-bus kind of vehicle can just do a to-and-fro from Start of the Flyover (near SilkBoard) and Electronics-City toll-post.

Hat mounted camera - gadget for Traffic Police

Bangalore Traffic Police loves technology, and for good reason, because tech helps them 1) reduce corruption and 2) get more enforcement done from their small troop of 2000 cops. Here is another tech solution for them to take their camera based enforcement to the extreme.

Decentralized urban poor rehabilition strategy

In the run up to Anna Hazare's fast & IAC's drive to the Jan Lok Pal bill one of the key topics that emerged was the kind of politicians & corporators we end up electing. It can be easily proven that this is not a countryside phenomenon and that the BBMP council also has its share of corporators with criminal history or no intention to address civic issues.

Hoodi Railway Over Bridge

Hi All,

There have been proposals for Hoodi Railway Overbridge that I believe is already approved by the government. But I haven't heard anything on when the actual work will start. Had asked the railway crossing operator for the same and he said it will take few months.

BMTC, what a pity to namma bengaluru

From The Hindu, Apr 17:

At a time when Bangaloreans are craving for more buses, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) could add only 58 new buses and 108 new routes as against the target of 1,000 buses and about 500 routes in 2010-11.

ST Bed Koramangala area, Is this rework of drainage-covering height increase needed?

Have a look at these 2 photos, the footpaths over the drainage lines in ST Bed, Koramangala area.

Namma Metro Turning Radius - A test train brushed against steel railings of viaduct

Namma Metro was supposed to be start by Ugadi, but it got postponed. Stations construction was told as the reason. But, CRS had not approved Namma Metro due to the small turning radius of two curves in Reach 1 one near NGEF and another near Ulsoor. Deccan Chronicle reported this and tracking from there, while other leading news papers have not reported anything about this.

Fix the Big Circle buses

Recently Nayandahalli railway underbridge opened completing the ring of Bangalore ring road. But the Big circle buses still continue to ply via kengeri which will reduce its usefulness drastically. There is quantum advantage of a city ring road and that is not leveraged by BMTC. I think on the east side Big circle buses ply via Kadugodi which is again a deviation.

Solving City's traffic problems - Govt/Babus OUT, Citizen IN

Ruling dispensation busy in saving their skins, divided in camps, CM dosing one fire after the other. Opposition in total shambles and behaving like headless chickens. Babus calling shots and in most cases avoiding the obivious to save their careers.

Alert - Lake being filled at B Narayanapura, Mahadevapura

I see that one of the lakes adjoining the outer ring road-Mahadevapura, is being filled with the debris coming from the nearby flyover construction. This lake is in B Narayanapura, just bang on the side of the outer ring road. Daily, truck load of debris from the near by flyover construction site (at Mahadevapura junction) is being dumped into this lake.

Election reforms:- fund raising Vs compulsory voting

Campaign finance refers to the fund raising and spending that political campaigns do in their election campaigns.

Bicycle Lanes in Bellandur ward

It will be of great help if someone can provide me some directions / guidelines if they have done it before on their area . Thanks a lot!
