Same is the case with Hosur Road
On the 10 Km stretch from Silk Board to Electronic City, NHAI/ BETL has built just 4 pedestrian subways! Are the people supposed to walk 2.5 Kms to cross the road? No surprise they are hardly used, with people forced to resort to take so much risks simply to cross the road.
This is in stark contrast to the Old Mahabalipuram road (or the IT highway) in chennai, where pedestrian overbridges have been provided/planned every 300 metres or so.
What about signal free ORR
Not sure what would happen to ORR when it comes full signal free at every junction. Are pedestrians going to risk their life everytime they have to cross the roads?

Ped Crossing needed at some more points
Esteem Mall Junction has a Pedestrian Crossing Signal and Traffic Signals are present at Kodige Halli Junction and GKVK Junction. However Crossing the road in between two signals points is very very difficult (impossible) during Peak hour traffic. It is not fair to expect people walk almost a KM to cross a strech of Road. Ped Crossings is also badly needed at Mekri Circle, Veterinary college on Bellary Road (International Airport Road).
Some time back there was a suggestion of building ped skywalks every 100 Meters at this forum. Or atleast there should be a push button ped signals or Zebra Crossings. I am not sure if NHAI has any specifications for Sky Walks and Ped Signals. I could not easily locate anything related to pedestrian crossings at their site. you can find the contact information at http://www.nhai.org/piu.asp .
