BTMC Issues - From RCA Perspective-2

BusPublic Transport

 This is in continuation of my last post.  This time I thought to take delayed disturbed scheduling. As you all aware, RCA is simple technique to find out root causes and thus first step to eliminate bad causes. Some of the caused may be repetitive from last post. But if repeated it should be considered as a major cause and should be given priority.

Effect  -

Buses not operating in time thus causing inconvinience to public and to BMTC scheduling system itself

Causes  due to -

1. Traffic Jam at Signal due to

         -> Long Signals

         -> Heavy Vehicle Rush

         -> No traffic Management in junctions

         -> No signal

2. Traffic Jam at Roads due to

Transport Hub at Mangalore

BusPublic Transport

The plan to build a large, formal bus stand for Mangalore had been conceived some years ago. Mangalore's original bus stand at Hampankatta had been too small with no scope for any expansion as it had been sandwiched right in the heart of town (CBD). Hence, KSRTC had shifted out to a newer facility of it's own long ago, however private buses continued to use the same bus-stand. With efflux of time, increased number of buses & severe congestion, the inter-city bus stand was moved to Statebank, close to the fishing harbour, which had long been the terminus for intra-city buses (The Hampankatta bus stand is now a convenient parking facility). Within a few years, due to increasing growth rate/s, much higher number of buses & space constraints, the need for a much larger facility was becoming more & more acute.

March 4 Bus Day - New shuttles - Bagmane, Indiranagar, Domlur, Koramangala

BusPublic Transport

BMTC is announcing new local shuttle routes for March 4 Bus Day. Instead of smaller multiple local feeder loops, we have a largish loop covering Indiranagar, Domlur and Koramangala. Frequency promised is 10 minutes, so that will help.

City, people, public - mingle on March 4

BusPublic Transport

Who said the job is done!? Sure, the second Bus Day will not get as much publicity as the first one. "Oh, there they go again". So what!? This is our chance, to surprise people.

An event is one thing, and a tradition another. A monthly event gives everyone the chance to do some progressive experiments and thinking. Everyone as in, BMTC, involved organizations and the individuals who'd spread the word. Yes, just take the Bus, and get the rights to crib about what you didn't like, becuase you would be speaking from experience. And if you like the ride, tell the world that public transport is worth it.
