Recently, a group of residents from certain streets in Koramangala petitioned to the ward level authorities to evict food-vending hawkers from the neighbourhood. Some were on pavements and some occupied vacant plots. After many meetings, the authorities obliged. In some cases, the carts reappeared the same day.

Highest kickbacks - the new norm

While the BJP is rightfully on the offensive against the colossal misdeeds vis-a-vis the CWG, in its own backyard, instances of financial impropriety, though not on such a big scale as in Delhi, have come to light.

An easy and safe Park and go option - Impose heavy fines for parking violations

During my recent visit to Commercial Street on two ocassions, I witnessed a series of parking violations. Although there are traffic wardens, parking bays and payment options, I noticed drivers parking at will ignoring the inconvenience of the other commuters.

Police ticketing BMTC

A short report:  I saw a traffic policeman giving a challan to a BMTC bus that was parked awkwardly on the down ramp from Marathalli bridge.  Excellent start.  I want to see challans for improper parking at bus stops, illegal U-turns, ignoring lane discipline etc.

Right to Information act (RTI) and transparency

In this age of the internet and exponential growth of the web, the RTI act 2005 should have been at best, a history by now. It is amazing to read the RTI 2005 document available on the web. It creates posts like Chief Information Commissioner and what not, for providing the so called information. I admit I could not, nor was I interested in reading this kind of document.

PRAJA Saarige not to be, atleast for now

After a persistent pursuit, through registered letters, RTI queries, appeals, etc, targeted primarily at the Commissioner for Transport in Karnataka, he has finally got the the RTO, Koramangala, to write to me officially to say that I cannot be issued a license to operate 'majilu vahanagalu' (meaning 'stage carriage', I guess) in the city.
