As part of ABIDe, Prof.Ashwin Mahesh appears to have thoroughly understood all the limitations of having to deal with issues for commencing new city transport services within the existing framework of our polity & citizenry.

He touched upon prevailing operational practices & existing mindsets within BMTC as also those of the expectations of people with regard to BMTC services. He dealt with various issues in an extremely systematic & orderly way & explained all aspects – indeed in a most impressive manner.

BMTC Infrastructure Development under JnNURM!

Information first, cribs later! I finally managed to decode the mystery named Bellary Road Big 10. This one operates between Shivajinagar bus stand and Yelahanka. The route as I understand right now is:

Why so many buses on the Road?

"BMTC the ever progressing Gov org" Has anyone ever wondered why Bangalore city has so many buses plying on the roads?? Does anyone feel that the BMTC authorities actually conduct an analysis before releasing buses to ply on the city roads.

Tax Sops to encourage use of Public transport (BMTC) ?

About the above discussion on Poor response BMTC I have following suggestion where in a common man is encouraged to use Public transport by giving Tax sops to him by Governament.

Google Transit for Bangalore?

Any idea about the plans for Google to include Bangalore in  Google Transit service: http://www.google.com/intl/en/landing/transit/text.html  ?

Monorail's Ups & downs

Public Transport

Monorails or for that matter most of the mass-transits have not been churning out profits. Japan is the only unique exception due to their much higher standards of living & people's higher affordability levels to pay fares. Thus monorails have been profitable there. In fact, monorail makers have been forced to cut manufacturing costs for systems & are offering to install & run their systems as there had been no takers. Some examples :
