BMTC New 35th & 36th Bus Depots

BusPublic Transport

Hi,

I was browsing thru BMTC website & notices they have put Depot No. 35 & 36.  Would anyone know if these depots are operational. I have not heard about the ingauration in newspapers also.

If it is true that the new depots are operation then our Bangalore commuters can breathe in ease for a more comfortable travel. I guess Bangalore will be having the highest inter-city public transport service.

Commuter Rail meetings with Mr Ananth Kumar, Mr V Madhu - report

Commuter RailPublic Transport

Yesterday was kind of a big day for this project. Some of us met Mr V Madhu, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure Development Department, Govt of Karnataka. And Sanjeev managed a meeting with BJP MP, Mr Ananth Kumar.

Murali, blrsri, N, IDS and myself were there with Mr Madhu, spent about an hour with him, mostly listening to his thoughts. He seemed like a high energy guy. And as it happens in the most of these meetings, the ball was thrown back in our court. Mr Madhu asked us to return in a couple of weeks with a report carrying all our ideas on CRS and an actionable way.

Sanjeev too, from his meeting with Mr Ananth Kumar, got this task of getting back to him with a solid presentation on Commuter Rail for Bangalore.

Delhi/Mumbai get wider spans...not Blr why?

Metro RailPublic Transport

To expedite the process and make it more cost effective, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is making use of gigantic 25 metre-long girders to join spans on elevated stretch of the section.

‘‘The cost of construction with the existing 3-meter spans works out to Rs 24 crore per km, while the 25-meter ones cost Rs 19 crore per km. So using the bigger spans will result in a saving of nearly Rs 5 crore per km,’’ said a DMRC official.

It  looks like this..

The bigger spans work out to be more economical and also speed up pace of the construction. Officials said it takes about a week to join the space between two pillars using segmental construction while the bigger spans can be put in place in just one day.

Dear Sir,

Ever Since RITES CTTP recommended commuter rail service for Bangalore, we have been waiting for action from South Western Railway. Recently, we have been hearing a lot about Circular Railway and Commuter Rail services for Bangalore Metropolitan Area. Could you please clarify if SWR is considering working on either of these projects. Please also clarify on the difference between Circular and Commuter Rail.

There are a lot of ideas floating around to make the CRS more visible.
Lets have a meeting where all these can be discussed and some action items can be decided to take this forward.

Suggest a time and a place where this can be done. Maybe on the train itself :)
