BWSSB - current projects and progress updates

From a BWSSB perspective, I found 3 critical projects that we need to track the progress of:

Commuter rail to E-City may happen soon!

I was at a BCIC meeting this week wherein Devesh had invited Mr Arvind Jadhav (GoK's principal secretary for infrastructure development) over for a talk. Mr Jadhav mentioned some exciting plans, we should hear them soon in mainstream media. Commuter Rail Service was one of them, looks like things are moving, and we may get one or two services pretty soon! Here is a summary of CRS stuff that Mr Jadhav mentioned:

Bangalore Traffic - problems & solutions

Presentations linked here were made by Mr Dasrathi (CEO of Cadem, Bangalore, and a member of Hasiru Usiru), who, even with being in his mid-forties, uses a bicycle for over 75% of the trips he makes, including client visits. He has stated that anyone may use these presentations in any way - view online, download, distribute, put them in blogs, whatever, as long as the message spreads.

Background:

Heavy toll for NICE drive

Already embroiled in litigation over key issues involved in the implementation of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor, its promoter, NICE on Wednesday delivered a shocker to motorists. Urgent - need photographs for a PIL

Dear readers, we need some urgent help for our ongoing Bangalore Masterplan-2015 PIL. We require photographs that show the adverse effects of converting a road of a residential area into "mutation corridor" (see below for what is this, or see the attached doc). If the photos can also show vehicles parked on the road and pavements due to lack of proper parking space, it will be great.

BIAL RTI - MOU between AAI & KSIIDC and Land Lease Agreement

In response to the RTI applications filled with KSIIDC, there was a meeting between Mr Nagaraj, DGM, KSIIDC and a couple of Praja members. The meeting was a very cordial one and Mr Nagesh apart from giving us the requested documents also shared with us his views on the development of BIAL.

A potentially explosive report in today's Deccan Chronicle

Karnataka's Accountant General - dead or alive?

Ever been to the CAG website? Its of interest because it provides useful data on how select government departments are doing with tax payer's money. Look at this report on NAL (National Aero Lab) for example, and see how CAG details NAL's failure to meet its targets. Or see this report on allotment of housing by DDA. Don't we wish Karnataka too had a CAG like body to audit the likes of BDA and BBMP?
