Workgroup to support Jenny's PIL on pedestrian safety issues in Bangalore

Bengaluru is NOT a pedestrian friendly city. Pedestrian injuries and deaths are on a rise. Roads get widened, new roads get built, flyovers and underpasses come up every year, but very few of these projects see the required investment and designs for pedestrian amenities.

A resident's assessment of Mr Ramalinga Reddy (Cong), BTM layout MLA - 09-13.

Tree cover

To preserve the existing green cover and add more in Bangalore, there has to be an initiative, enforcement to plant, shift big trees (if being chopped due to infrastructure projects) to private/public companies having big campuses (like IT parks, BEL, CPRI, ... where they can be accommodated). Trees are being chopped mercilessly as more commercialisation is setting in.

Underpass/Sub Ways/Flyovers @ Namma Metro junctions

Sir,

It will be great if BMRCL/BBMP/BDA all co-ordinate and try to build underpass/sub ways or flyovers - where ever the metro passes through major intersections. It will surely ease the traffic congestion at the surface level.

BMTC Sufferings

Since the time  BMTC introduced Parisaravahini buses, the travel in BMTC buses has become an ordeal. All Parisaravahinis and all the new buses have glass panels above the windows. These glass panels allow sunlight inside the bus from morning to evening, even at 1pm.
