It was a few years ago around 2004..stuck on the BTM layout road btw the them Udupi Garden junction and SB..I missed many important client calls..I cursed everyone, everything..but never did I wish for a BETL flyover or more roads,..aparently after 10 years everything I did not wish for is happening!
Now to ease road pressures govt is planning to encroach upon little more than 2 acres of Madivala lake area to build roads for the internet weary junkies..
With the daily commute from Electronics City towards Bannerghatta Road getting more distressing by the day for motorists (especially the techies), the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to develop the service road adjacent to the Madiwala Lake into a 20-metre wide road to divert traffic away from the Silk Board junction and ease the chaos at BTM Layout and Jayadeva Hospital junctions.
While the move would put a smile on the face of the much-hassled motorists, the flip side is that nearly 8,700 square metres of the water body would be reclaimed for construction of the 20 metre-wide (65 feet) road. The Lake Development Authority (LDA) and the forest department have given clearances for building the road along the lake's shore at a meeting held recently

This project apprently has the blessings of the commissioner and the transport minister, who is also the local MLA of the place.
But was there a real need for this at all?
It would have been really appreciated if they had put their efforts in getting the metro in place connecting ecity and jayanagar on a war footing...
This road plan needs to be stopped immediately and these lakes that are our heritage needs to be conserved !

Bicycle Tracks? metro ph II?
There were actually plans drawn up for a bicycle network connecting BMT with HSR layout going through the lake in a non-intrusive way and then under the hosur road..something of a bicycle highway!
Guess this was shelved to come up with this hideous plan to build roads for motor vehicles..
About metro, one thing I curse NRN gang(nilekani too) for being selfish in drawing up plans for the BETL bridge instead of mass transport option like metro..even the BETL is build really stupid with unintiutive exits..
All he needed to be aware was of the productivity hours and well being of his employees rather than that of his clients while asking for betl..some one said he was a communist when young..sad he didnt think of it..anyways no use banterning about it now..
Anyways, metro phII needs to be taken up on a war footing and EC connected ASAP
