Commuter Rail - Will it ever materialize ?

Most of us are aware that the CTTP-2007 report had recommended a Commuter /Sub-urban rail system for the city, totalling 204.0km (this includes city & suburban services upto Tumkur, Hosur & Ramanagaram). A few sub-urban trains are in operation & are being run by Southwestern railways (SWR), but the system is not of much help to urban commuters.

A peep into MRTS at Chennai

These are recent pictures of the MRTS (Commuter /Suburban Rail) at Chennai. New elevated tracks have been added, but these pictures are from an old line on the surface, between Beach & Tambaram.

ABIDe pins high hopes on new reforms blueprint for Bengaluru

The chief minister's ABIDe task force released Plan Bengaluru 2020, calling it a 'dynamic document'. Alas, all this with no city council yet.
