Plans for BMTC's Rome need redrawing

BMTC has made a start on one front for building their Rome: by increasing bus inventories & increasing the number & types of services. Most other areas are still struggling to even get blueprints ready. Thus, we seem to have many attractive buildings put up haphazardly & with poor lighting in BMTC's Rome.

Shuttle suggestions based on our experiences

After reading everyone's Bus Day experiences in these posts, I felt we can have two approaches:

Houses for slum dwellers by Dec 2010

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for construction of 1,500 houses in the Ragigudda slum at JP Nagar 2nd phase, the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said, “All 570 slums in the City will be rehabilitated under the JNNURM-BSUP scheme by Dec 2010 to make Bangalore a slum-free City".

New features at Praja!

We at the Tech team are happy to announce another set of new features on Praja. Starting today, all registered users will have access to these new features.

1. The Stream Microblog with Twitter Integration

For those of us who are familiar with Twitter, we now have an analogous feature built within Praja. How is PrajaBytes to name it? Suggest better if you have one. The idea is for you to share your status or broadcast those pithy one liners to all Praja users (and especially those who follow you, see below).

  • To start posting, just head to 'My account' and type in the 'Stream' box.
  • What more, you can link one or more of your Twitter accounts to your praja accounts. If you link your Twitter account, a tweet will be posted to your Twitter account when you make a post on Praja.

To link your Twitter account:

  • go to 'My account',
  • choose 'edit' and click on 'Twitter Accounts' tab.
  • Fill in your Twitter id and Twitter password. We need your Twitter password to make posts on your behalf.
  • Rest assured that the passwords will be stored securely and are not accessible to any users, including the admins.

Media report card on just concluded Bus Day initiative!

Here is a media reports round up of the Bus Day initiative we triggered and participated in. Good coverage all around, and going by some of the reports (25% jump in ridership, breather on some corridors etc), looks like the city has made a good beginning. The event is likely to become a permanent fixture on BMTC's and Bengaluru's calendar. Lets hope BMTC will act fast on all the feedback the event generated for them.
