To create a trained and skilled workforce for small-scale industries, the Karnataka Small Scale Industries’ Association (KASSIA) has suggested to the State Government to establish micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) university on the lines of agricultural university.

A PIL has been filed in the highcourt questioning trip (junket?) that the CM, MLAs and officers are taking. There is an article in thatskannada about this and I guess tomorrow's newspapers might carry this too.

Since the article is in Kannada, I am translating the highlights.

BCIL's survey on Bangalore car commuters

BCIL recently conducted a survey among car owners who commute to work to find out whether they would be willing to consider a public transport alternative.

How about an experiment to give chance for members, even the remote/online-only ones, to go beyond posts and comments? Tumkur as satellite for Bangalore?

Tumkur, so close to Bangalore - Just 55 minutes to 1 hour in Non-Stop Train, 1.5 hours by road (delay mainly due to Traffic) is highly under-utilized. Bangalore is growing like anything and the existing space is not sufficient. Tumkur can be well utilized as a satellite city.

Why is Bangalore growing towards Hosur - a city belonging to neighbouring state and why not towards our own city Tumkur? Townships as well as IT companies can be planned between Bangalore and Tumkur in areas that are close both to railway track and the bus route.

I have just found a Belgaum city map of 1894 from the Bombay Gazetteer. The image was in a pdf file & of low resolution and is not very clear. Thanks, Mr.Vilas Patil, a Belgaumite, now working in Pune who has made the present version on the image which is better viewable. See Belgaum in 1894 and now, it has changed.

I request all the readers to send in their comments as to what changes they have found in that map and the current Belgaum.
