Obama win - whats' in it for Bengaluru

The recent win of Senator Barack Obama has certainly changed the core nature of the United States. That an African American could be elected to the Presidency is a far contrast to the time before 1965 when African Americans could not even vote.

BBMP excempted from calling for tenders for storm water works

In a surprising development BBMP has been exempted from calling tenders for Storm Water Drain projects. A total of around 32 crores will be spent on these projects.

Planning in India? What a farce.

I always wonder why we face so many problems. No sooner is a problem solved, than the solution poses a new problem. Why don't we have long term solutions?

Namma Metro - Last Mile Connectivity

Prajegale,

We seem to be excited about last mile connectivity to Namma Metro. If we all agree on a few (let us say two or three) options, this might be a chance to influence policy.

Can we consolidate our ideas in one post?  Here is the plan:

Underpass at Tagore Circle - End of Gandhi Bazaar?

The pleasure of shopping on Gandhi Bazaar Main Road in Basavanagudi may be lost forever, if the underpass at Tagore Circle at the beginning of the road materializes. Yes, this proposal now seems to have moved and Deccan Herald has published traffic diversions to accommodate this project. I have put in all the pieces in a hurry. Sorry for any editing lapses.

Can someone organize a meet with BWSSB

Plenty of transportation going on around here. One Bangalore public body that needs more attention on Praja is BWSSB. Of special interest to us should be their ambitious "Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Stage IV Phase - II to bring in 500 MLD Potable Water". I picked the title up from BWSSB's current projects page. Newspapers carry very little updates (I mean conslidated updates) on this project which is worth Rs 3383 crores. Receipt of bids was due on 26 September, wonder what happened.

Folks, the legislative committee is inviting public participation and information submission, on November 13th, at Jnana Jyoti, Central College (State Bank of Mysore junction on KG Road towards Maharani's College).

What the "public" doesn't get about "transport" ?

What the public doesn't get about transport is similar to what the public doesn't get about "climate change" or many other problems which seems to be drowning us with  their increasing complexity.

Restrictions on the movement of private buses

"...Minister for transport R Ashok on Sunday said the government is considering imposing restrictions on the movement of private buses at national highways in the State...." Deccan Herald.
