BMTC and monopoly - opening up Local Bus Transport in Bangalore

BMTC has monopoly in operating road based public transport services in Bangalore. No-one is allowed to operate buses to carry general public in Bangalore. Special and closed situations like Private companies shuttling their employees, and schools hauling in their students are the only exceptions to this monopoly.

Interchange hubs for inter-city travelers in Bangalore?

How is Bangalore doing on Interchanges or transit centers? Not to be mixed with the burning need for local transit / bus change centers, where TTMCs have simply not filled the gap, and changing buses is a painfully inconvenient thing in general, the problem area is with long distance public transport. How do people arrive at the city, and then go to their final destination point?

Would you choose a bicycle if it was made available at namma metro stations?

BMTC buses on NICE Road

Hi All,

I think we should ask BMTC to run buses on NICE road especially buses starting from electronic City towards Girinagar, BSK II/III stage, Srinagar, Hanumantha Nagar, Chandra layaout, Vijayanagar, Rajaji Nagar .etc

Garage may be made mandatory to own car

The meet, titled "Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week: Seminar on Making public transportation the first choice" on 26-Oct-2010 had a plethora of experts from govt as also ABIDe & Praja.

Mr Shankarline gowda stated that a garage may be made mandatory to own car.

Build TTMC on both side of a road

Shantinagar TTMC is built on one side of road, so we have 2 junctions on adjacent roads. Though those junctions have only bus traffic, still additional junctions formed. Imagine 2 extra junctions near hebbal junction when hebbal TTMC is built.

That was the title of the Nobel Memorial Seminar convened by 'Volvo Buses', yesterday (26th Oct) at the Leela, Bangalore.

Combined ticketing for 2 buses.

Say i want to go from Banashankari to IIMB. I have to change bus at Jayadeva, so it is two bus journey. If i wait for direct bus it will take too long.

SWR Plans improvements to Bengaluru City Railway Station

The Hindu carried a news item on newly renovated UN-RESERVED ticket counters at the city railway station. Along with that it also carried a news about SWR plan to improve the station facilities.
