State’s reluctance to try Traffic Restraint Scheme irks HC

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday observed that the state government is not ready to experiment with the Traffic Restraint Scheme (TRS) and was instead depending on infrastructure projects and enhancement of public transport system.

Hi Prajas, with the increase in number of vehicles plying on the road, it is becoming very difficult for people of all age groups to walk safely on the road. Congestion, whilst speeding vehices at times no traffic sense is adding woes to the pedestrian. Another thing that has gone un-noticed is that the head-lights of vehicles are run with high-beams.

Bangalore Traffic Police (BTP) seems to be doing some good work to put together an integrated traffic management system for our city. We are told that the Traffic Management Center (TMC) is a key peice of this plan. We had requested BTP (Mr Sudhir, PSI, TMC) to help arrange a visit to their upgraded TMC. They will be more than happy to host us and show us around on Saturday Aug 22.

For all the good work that traffic police is driving in the city via BTRAC, I do think that the "no parking" boards (few thousands of them that have come up) are not the best use of money. Here are my issues with them:
