BIAS Routes and Frequency - suggestions

The BIAS services (Vaayu Vajras) are Bleeding! Only 1 out of every 4 busses on route Nos. 3 & 4 are even close to half full. I have seen a lot of the busses running almost empty. The return journeys seem to be faring better.

The reasons for this could be the following

Noise Pollution

Noise the silent killer and stress booster should be controlled. The awareness about honking/ horning and its effect on us should be made to our urban masses. Can we start a campaign that one day in a week say Wednesday is a silent day? Recently there was 'a' silent day in Mumbai and they have not pursued it further. We can make bumper stickers stating ' I don't honk on Wednesday'. I am adding my friend's views about this issue.

Kengeri to Whitefield Shuttle Train

I was just seeing the frequency of trains from Mysore towards Bangalore as well as towards Whitefield from Bangalore station during morning hours. There seems to be very little traffic of trains. First train from Mysore towards Bangalore reaches Kengeri at 9:00 AM. Upto 9 AM track is completely free from Kengeri to Bangalore.

Urban Transportation reforms around the BMLTA concept

In the telecom space, you have TRAI which is a national level regulatory body. Rightly so, since telecom networks have national footprint through interconnections, it need not be looked at as a state subject. Drawing a parallel for our state, think of extending BMLTA concept - a Karnataka state land transport authority (KSLTA). Why so? Because we want efficient two or three change connectivity from Whitefield to Haradanahalli as well, and not just to Jayanagar or Malleswaram. Just like the primary schools, every region needs good connectivity.

Example of BMTC Local Shuttles for Bannerghatta Road

Hello All,

Here i am once again, i had promised long back to explore more on problems with BMTC in bannerghatta road. So here are some of the major problems.

BMTC busses currently ply only from the main bannerghatta road and it does not penetrate the interiors of bannerghatta road. Interiors on either side of bannerghatta road is pathetic with no proper asphalt. It seems to me that no one has taken interest in improving the conditions these roads. Most of the roads have been occupied by petty shops making the interior existing roads small.

Local shuttles and BMTC - Example Whitefield

Let me try a detailed example of how BMTC can extend the reach of its services, without adding tons of buses to its fleet. It involves investing in identified trunk routes, and then in planning local shuttles. Lets dig a bit deep into Whitefield.

Say we identify the trunk routes between Whitefield and rest of Bangalore as Southbound (towards Koramangala E-City, Westbound (towards CBD via Airport road), and Northbound (towards Banaswadi, Hennur). Call these trunk routes, and put a bus every 10-15 minutes on each. Here are the three routes (indicative, not exact):

A Dangerous Trend

Since taking charge, CM Shri Yeddyurappa has spoken about his plans and ideas on a wide range of issues. But one thing he has been silent about is the issue of election to Bangalore's ULBs.

Fast rail track MG Road to BIAL - confused

I am honestly a little confused on this infrastructure project that has been "reannaounced" by the government.

From what I have read on this( news releases), what I gather is that:

  • There is a dedicated fast track railway being proposed from MG road to BIAL exclucively servcing airport needs .
  • That this project, PPP or not, is to the tune of 3000crores
  • That the ticket will be in the region of Rs200 per pop.

Elevated Corridors - green light

Source Deccan Herald, CM Gets Cracking on City's Woes: "Yeddyurappa showed the green signal to BBMP to take up two elevated corridor projects: the 16-km North-South corridor connecting Hebbal to Madivala through Minsk Square and Vellara junction and the 12-km Bangalore East corridor connecting Kodihalli and Kundalahalli through Vellara junction..."
