Will Green Bonus save the forests around Gundia?

The environment ministry has declared a reward system called "Green Bonus" as an incentive for states to protect and increase their green cover. The details of this scheme are not out yet but it sure sounds interesting. I do hope that this comes out as early as possible.

Big10 Corridor improvement - good intentions

Some good intentioned work seems to have been kicked off on the Big10 corridor this side of the city. From what I can see, the HAL Airport Road, Varthur Road Big10 corridor is seeing some upgrades towards:

Sorry for that catchy headline there. Road width over pavement - Marathahalli example

First of all, credits to BDA or BBMP or ABIDe (who knows!?) or whoever is thinking about bus interchange points like Marathahalli ring Road and improving the pedestrian amenities there. So yes, something is better than nothing. However, if you watch the work, uncalled for and unscietific preference to road width over pavement is visible. Sample some pictures.

Long pending Civic Elections

The way the BWSSB, in the absence of BBMP elected mayor and his team, is going ahead with its job of planning and maintaining the city infrastructure is not acceptable. Reference is made to the earlier two threads on the subject on SWD.

Bangalore - Governance

Namma Bengaluru's struggle to manage its growth is partly a result of its broken governance structure. Central area of city had a municipality, which was expanded to cover sorrounding areas much after chaos has crept in on the peripheries. Even after the expansion, certain critical areas like transportation and water are not directly controlled by the local government.
