Commuter Rail

Here is the RTI reply from SWR  for the track improvements at Bayippanahalli. Till now how SWR has fooled public on its tracks being over utilized. Its high time SWR / GoK start thinking that they exist for Citizens and they should serve in the interest of Citizens.

Its good to see that more and more people are able to question the Railways for their in-efficiency  and get things fixed so that it helps the Citizens for better services.

With so many things under the SWR carpet,  they denied the services of Commuter Rail for Bangalore all  along,  now they should make honest efforts in providing the services to citizens of Bangalore.

Trial runs on for over a week; Safety Commissioner gives nod

The long-awaited rail from Bangalore to Nelamangala will be a reality soon. Trial runs on the route have already begun and a formal inauguration is scheduled shortly.

The rail connectivity should have been operational decades ago but for the myopia of a few. Track was laid about 10 km away from Nelamangala (near Gollahalli) and the villagers apprehended that youths would go astray with the advent of train facility. They even succeeded in getting the route shifted.

The Railways Department had spent crores of rupees to lay track, erect signal posts, construct computerised booking counter, platform, seating arrangement for travelling public, staff quarters etc.

All the necessary paraphernalia were in place except the train. Neither the people nor their representatives bothered to run the train. Meanwhile, the staff quarters became a den of illegal activities, the windows and the doors were stolen and the sheet-roof of the platform shattered to pieces.

It has now been proposed to run an intercity train between Bangalore and Nelamangala.  Railway Safety Commissioner A G S Naidu told Deccan Herald that the track is fit for commercial operation and soon trains would be operated to Nelamangala via Malleswaram, Yeshwantpur and Banavar.

The new railway station is located about two km away from the bus stand and hence there is a need to extend the bus services up to the railway station. At least buses should be provided during the arrival of trains to facilitate passengers. It takes at least two hours to reach Nelamangala, 27 km from Bangalore, on road.  The train covers the distance in about 30 minutes and at cheaper fare as well.

Its high time that SWR and GOK should put things in order to start the full fledge  Commuter Rail for Bangalore.  Now this 14 kms track got added which good for Commuter rail.

I appreciate the efforts made by Siddharth in gathering information by filing RTI. The SWR can no Longer Fool Citizens by reasoning the tracks are CONGESTED. Automatic signalling will make way for speedy implementation of Commuter Rail on Yesvantpur-Banaswad-Kr Puram-White Field Route as it will make way for Faster reception & Dispatch of Trains at Byappanhalli crossover Lines.
