"... Unique project
After getting in touch with resident associations in the area, ORRCA decided to begin the 'traffic marathon' on February 1, 2010, and continue it on every long weekend for the next one year. The idea has done down well with the residents. "This will be a unique experience," said Rakesh M, a resident of Marathalli, adjacent to Sarjapur ORR where the initiative will take place. "It's a good thing that techies are coming forward to set things right on our roads." ..."
Seems to be a good initiative and an opportunity to team up for proposed Feb 4th Bus Day Event. It would be a good occasion to publicize and do surveys.

Anyone working in ORRCA companies?
Can somebody who works in the ORRCA area help get more information on this event?
As per the news item, the contact person is Mr. S Vishwanath, manager, AOL and general secretary, ORRCA.
ORRCA
I already got you Mr. Viswanath's information. As I suspected, they are already in contact with Mithila from BMTC.
This so called marathon is a run with the goal of supporting ORRCA's "Safe Wheels- Go Green" initiative. I do not know exactly what this initiative is, but suspect that we'll find out soon.
May be Manjari contacted
May be Manjari contacted ORRCA based on this comment? Are discussions under that original Bus Day link still going to be used / relevant for this postponed Bus Day? Or, end up like most topics here that have multiple / similar discussions up to a certain point and (maybe) die a natural, temporary death? ;-)
@n, all the Bus Day discussions are done here
@n,
Per my info sources, BMTC has directly contacted ORRCA for the Bus Day campaign.
All previous bus day discussions are actually have culminated into Feb 4th being observed as Bus Day. On Praja, all the discussions are happening here @ http://praja.in/en/projects/2009/12/17/bus-day-feb-2010
FYI, many are working and supporting this event not just BMTC or Praja. Janagraha, CityConnect and many Industrial associations are joining hands to support this campaign.
Let us also join hands and do what ever we can. It is not at all difficult task to do. I am sure each one of us can just publicize this event in our workplaces and neighborhoods. Just talking to families and friends would go a long way.
