BMIC - Why so high toll on NICE road?

Kind of tired now of reading once-in-a-while-news-updates on NICE vs State of Karnataka case in Supreme Court. Also tired of seeing blatant self-promotion (misuse? illegal?) by Mr Ashok Kheny on his state-given PPP land. But more than that, why are the tolls so high on the NICE peripheral road?

Identity of our ‘Civil Society’

During the protest march at EWS Quarters, Ejipura, the Inspector-in-charge (named Prasad) warned one of the Resident- Representative that they would be arrested if they came in between the demolition work. When an representative from our group (civil society) stepped in and spoke to the inspector, he identified himself from an individual from an welfare group.

The government's decision to allow market rates for bulk users of diesel will result in a 15% increase in costs for commercial entities such as IT parks, malls, hotels and large office buildings. Demolition of EWS quarters at Ejipura- Is it legal?

I had been to the protest march this morning and returned sometime back. It looks like the demolition cannot be stopped. Here are some events which unfolded.

  • BBMP commissioner had aparently agreed to stay the demolition for the next 2-3 months as consideration (children's education will be impacted.) However, no written commitment (the usual thing)

Please do not extend Bangalore's trains to Mysore

A humble request to the railways from me would be to refrain from extending trains of Bangalore to Mysore as the needs of the capital are manifold greater than the heritage city. If need be, new trains can be introduced from Mysore to different places, but let the trains of Bangalore be left alone.

End of life.... What we want done to us

Here is a podcast that really got me thinking hard about medical intervention when death comes knocking.

Bribery and the Convenience Fee.

When I called the building plumber to replace the heating plate of my Water Heater, I was surprised to see that the MRP sticker was removed and the price he had paid seemed to be high (Rs 950/-).  Being wary of it, I asked him to come next day, while I would source the plate myself.
