A new secretary to 'oversee' BMIC project

Came to know today that state government has created a post to keep tabs on BMIC. Neither the tone of the news piece nor the situation suggests the move is to speed track any decisions on the project. Perhaps it is more to watch over babus like Mr Sridhara who was pulled up recently for transferring KIADB land to NICE.

From TOI Friday July 27:

Creating a secretary-level post in the public works department to oversee the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project, the government appointed IAS officer Ramesh Bindurao Zalki to it. Zalki will report directly to public works minister H D Revanna. He has been given powers to coordinate and keep track of all developments and decisions with regard to BMIC.

P... is this a permanent post? it is also interesting, possibly a good sign too, that the post was created under PWD and not BMRDA. :) 'coz even if Zalki is prone to tandav, HDK's damaruga is up for review periodically. Can't wait for october.

It is very injustice to BMIC. It has been trapped all over. KIADB officer being suspended and creation of new post in PWD who directly reports to Revanna - Being from NICE opposer (Devegowda's) family will make sure that BMIC is totally trapped. How an infrastructure project will suffer in Karnataka at the whims of politicians - NICE is a very good example. How far other investors will invest in infrastructure project. No one will come to Karnataka to take up any project that is BOOT and managed by state government. Very Bad and Anti Infrastructure State Government.

The news clip says "creating a secretary level post" - doesn't that means its not a temp post? Note that Zalki is also the MD of KRDCL (KA road development corporation). How ironic that the guy responsible for building and maintaining roads in Karnataka will now officially be working to slow down building of some :)
