The revenue records being so important need to be protected with multiple layers of security. What steps the BBMP is taking towards this the general public would like to know.

Bangalore: Revenue records pertaining to the Mahalakshmipuram assembly constituency were destroyed early on Thursday when a fire broke out in the revenue section of the BBMP (West) office on Sampige Road. Records of khatas, khata transfers, communication between the public and BBMP going back at least 30 years were reduced to ashes. Officials suspect the fire was the handiwork of miscreants.

It may be a good idea to upload all revenue records to the official BBMP web site. There are fool proof ways for protecting web site data. Would BBMP care to take up this job? Is it not better late than never?

The Deccan Herald reporter who has quoted the name of the "worshipful" deputy mayor Shri Harish in the news report should be taken to task and a defamation case should be filed against him!

Shri. Harish is just a very eager deputy who only means well for the city. He has proved his mettle by showing utmost urgency in implementing the Sankey road widening programme and his achievements have been widely documented in other Praja threads. By mentioning his "untarnished" name in the report gives rise to wild speculation that he is somehow responsible for this, I am wondering why the Malleswaram residents who (were allegedly paid) to support road widening are not coming out with their placards taking umbrage to this report in DH.

I shudder at the boldness that politicians and their cronies are gaining day-by-day. If it is this easy to cover-up/coming up with fabricated records to make money by eliminating land records enmasse, I wonder what  a determined State Minister can do to the KAVERI database maintained by the Dept. of Revenue and Land records. I personally think the Karnataka High Court should take suo motu cognisance of this fire or a PIL is filed. This should not go unpunished.

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday directed the State Government to computerise and digitise all land revenue records in the State. Justice D.V. Shylendra Kumar passed the order on a petition by Lingappa who had sought duplicate records of his land holding after the authorities told him that the original records of his land in Bangalore South were lost. Mr. Lingappa said he needed the original records if he had to appeal against an order of the tahsildar relating to his land.

Supposedly, the "fire" at BBMP records office may have been an attempt to clean up scam related land documents.

Bangalore and Land Scams, its time for a director to make a block buster on the subject now.
