What is the truth of Narayanpura Metro Station ?

Metro Rail

On Metro's R1 Extension from Biappanhalli to Whitefield, about 14 metro stations are being proposed and Naryanpura station is one among them.

Recently one of the Praja member brought to the notice of 100 Houses and One school being acquired/going to be acquired for building this station. This was immediately responded by another member saying 100 seems to be too large a number given the BMRCL's own admission that only 855 properties were being affected in all phases.

Obviously without confirmed information, it is hard to accept or reject the claim of 100 properties for single station. If it is so, need to know the compulsion for such high number properties being acquired. What started ringing the bell is the number 100 and the school.

Tried to Look for information on BMRC website (www.bmrc.co.in). Could find 2 Tender documents that were floated for this extension.

"Detailed Design Consultancy Services for viaduct and Stations in Section R1 EXTENSION & Intermodal Transit Hub at Baiyappanahalli for Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase -2.

Geotechnical Investigation for Viaduct and Stations for Bangalore Metro Rail Project,

These documents doesn't carry those details that I was looking for. So the quest for right information has begun and I have started to look for this information:

  1. Exact Location for Naryanpura Station

  2. Criteria/Qualification for this location

  3. Any government land being used for this purpose?

  4. If yes how much?

  5. Is there any land acquisition done from individual private parties?

  6. If yes, how much land is being acquired? How many individual or entities being affected?

  7. If yes, any official notification to this effect?

  8. Compensation and Rehabilitation Package?

  9. If yes, any public buildings like school/hospital/offices being acquired?

  10. If yes, what is the rehabilitation package?

Even for all other stations that are already in operation in Phase-1, no information could be found. Hopefully BMRCL can provide this information upon request.

Will I be successful in my quest?

We have now reliable information that  there are two proposals  for Narayanapura Station  one for 100 meters and another one for 35 meters(excluding the parking facility).

The 35 meters proposal will save  the houses but  will partially damage the St Peter school in B.Narayanapura.

Those who have personal contact witha metro official will help us to get more information on this.

Madhu,

The map is uploaded to the main post itself? Could you point out which properties are marked for acquisition?

Narayanapura Metro station map at Praja site

Thank you  Mr. Syed for uploading the  Map.

B.Narayanapura Residents Welfare Association has been demanding to shift the location to large chunk of land of  Railways and ITI (see map  marked as  survey no 88).

if  one  looks at the map closely, the bylanes marked between the survey no 95 and survey no 89  comprises over 100 houses and a school.  you could also read  a marking as 100 which denotes acquisition of 100 meters from the centre median of whitefield road. The width being 185 meters.

Now, metro officials claim to  have  prepared  a map which denotes to acquire only 35 meters.  But they refuse to share the copy of the map.

Is there any way to get hold of this new  map

BMRCL parking policy..

ಮೇಲೆ
190 users have liked.

The general thought has been that there would be parking available only at terminal stations and not in the intermediate ones..as you can see on reach one there are two places only with parking:

BYP stn and Swami Vivekananda (OMR) station..the second one because they could get vacant govt land there..

Hence the smaller space plan makes most sense in Narayanapura  stn..

But gotta say that there are some reports that people volountarily want to give up their land to BMRCL cos the comensation is really good!

Also, guess you can use the mail ID's I sent you to get a meeting setup..

Narayanapura stn plans dropped

According to BMRCL MD on twitter..the Narayanapura station has now been dropped from the whitefield extension line..since the closest station to that would have been KR Pruram one on the Lowry grounds..

BMRC- changes

Yes, it looks like the Narayanapura station has been deleted following a push by the MLA, Aravinda Limbavalli, check here).

The other change seems to be rerouting the line through Hoodi junction (see here)

It is interesting that despite many petitions prior to this, only when the MLA/Minister put presure did the re-alignment get considered.  I am not very sure how much of an improvement the realignemtn is, since the new segment is well served by BMTC buses. Anyway, this does not hurt either IMHO.

After looking at the alignment of Whitefield extension,  it looks really spend huge time & money in making worst plan for this streatch.

Look at how the Metro takes cure at Hoody jucntion and  its one more Indiranagar speed restriction will come here also.

Other thing is After Vivekanand station,  Metro  takes left turn and comes to ground level and again it will take right turn and climbs again to elevated level towards KR Puram.  So why did they  first of all plan to bring to ground level and now speed gets reduced.

Look at K  R Puram station location for METRO,  it will not get  integrated with KR Puram Station.  so dis-jointed multimodal transport and already KR Puram bridge area is mess & with Metro miss alignment,  it will further gets worst.

Metro alignment on Whitefield road

Yes, the Whitefield extension looks like a huge planning blunder.

Why can the Metro not continue along Whitefield road itself towards ITPL, rather than moving via Hoodi, Graphite India Vydehi/Satya Sai hospital back to Whitefield road? If the metro moves straight along Whitefield road, there will be fewer speed restrictions due to less turns and less problems of land acquisitions. BMTC can introduce feeder services from Hoodi to Big Bazaar on Whitefield Road and reverse, via Graphite India, Vydehi Hospital and Satya Sai Hospital.  If the only purpose of this circuitious route is to cater to the IT companies in and around the Graphite-Satya Sai Hospital stretch, the feeder bus should be sufficient for last mile connectivity. Moving straight along Whitefield road would reduce the cost of the Metro and speeden the date of completion, due to less buildings to be demolished, less land to be acquired and less construction work. BMRCL should seriously consider this.
