Go to your area ward office with address proof...

You must have a little patience in getting a new card.  Present yourself at the designated ward office, meet the election officials, obtain necessary forms, fill them up with necessary enclosures like address proof in Bengaluru and hand it over to them for scrutiny and further direction - do not forget to obtain acknowledgement for whichever form you submit and also for surrendering your Bihar ID.

If we want our democracy to survive, we must vote, for voting, we must have EPIC. Your interest is appreciated.

For address proof ...

If your passport or PAN card has Bangalore address, thats the best. Next, try taking a phone bill, or your lease agreement (since you are most likely renting your place), or your sale deed copy (if you have a house).

Go to JaagoRe.com to find your ward office details.

I am not sure if it still works, but you can try this Bangalore Voter ID helpline as well

Do post your experience getting the EPIC. Many people think its too hard to get in cases like yours. Let us know if that is the case.

And once you get your EPIC, remember to vote for ......, sorry, you won't get that advice here :)

Any standard photo ID will do

This is what Jaago Re told us when they came to our apartment for a campaign.

You can use any of the standard photo IDs to vote - Passport, DL, PAN Card, Ration Card or EPIC.  Should not matter what address is there on it.

Getting your name included in the correct list is more critical to vote.  Voter ID/EPIC is a different matter.  Don't confuse the two.

EPIC - a pain in the neck

Dear All,

Please have a look at my posting in this link:

http://www.mysorenext.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=1050&SECTION=7

After this was posted on this website and a number of media reports started flying from all corners, DEO and other officers of Mysore have been making all out sincere efforts to make arrangements through VFCs, Mobile Photo capturing units, hiring more digital equipments, deploying majority of the revenue officials on the job and to help citizens get their EPICs without much hassle.  I was given to understand that after these maladies were brought to the notice of authorities, after observation, two persons who were acting as middlemen (?) have been arrested by the Police at one of the VFCs.

Still huge crowds were seen in long queues today (8-4-09) in Bannimantap VFC in Mysore with disgust writ large on their faces for having to spend precious long 'earning hours' for these EPICs.  At this rate it would be doubtful if the entire eligible voters can be listed in the electoral list.  Even the names of applicants given ten days back are yet to be enlisted, leave alone taking photo and issue of EPIC.  Even the task of finding out whether their name is there or not, it is pain standing in long long Ques, after reaching the counter, if name is not there on the computer system, one can imagine the ........ of these gullible people.

There appears to be an increased awareness during this Election to exercise the franchise and if the voters are turned back due to non-production of EPIC, then the accusing finger will point to the EC for any poll debacle in the system and its effect on participatory democracy with unimaginable poll results.

EC may please start looking into alternative identification methodologies to enable those with old EPICs with photo or without photo to exercise their franchise; on production of DL, Telephone bills, Property tax documents, tenancy / mortgage documents etc.  All these will be useful ONLY if our names exist on the electoral list.

God bless the greatest living democracy in the world.

No problems!

Hi,

I recently went to the VFC at the  BBMP office in K.R. Puram (constituency of my permanent address) to get my EPIC. Despite being a Monday, the centre was open, and at 4 pm there was a line of about 15 people. There were two computers and cameras in operation, and I had to wait about 45 minutes for my turn - not a problem as several large trees provided a shaded canopy. When my turn came, I proceeded to the counter, gave my number (which I had obtained from the website earlier) and got my photograph taken. The operator was extremely courteous and changed some of my details on the system which were incorrect. After this, I had to wait for about five minutes while the card was printed and laminated - and came out of the VFC, having obtained my EPIC in less than an hour with minimum hassle.

would like to explain my pain and vain in getting the voter ID, yesterday at Madiwala-VFC, its was the last date yesterday for the EPIC, almost 2000 people were waiting in the queue (it was a mad rush), I was one among them, waited for hours together( from 4 pm to 8 PM), I could not get the details from one counter and go to the next counter for the voter ID (clicking my photo), my long standing for hours in the queue all went in vain, I also commented on TV 9 news about the problem I/we had faced yesterday. Today morning again I had been to the Madiwala-VFC, to check my details, I tried to check, luckily I met one nice person from the VFC, who helped me to check the details in the database, he told me that my form is rejected???, I was bit surprised about this???, how could this be possible (as I had register through jagoore.com), and I had to explain about my voter registration through jagoore.com, how could my form get rejected.

I am really helpless now, whether to vote!!! Or not to vote!!!, or can I vote????, since my registration has happened I really don’t know. Kindly answer my query

Casting Vote

Hi, i have a small doubt i would like to hear solutions from u. I got the new voter id card instead of the old because my name was not in the list for last elections. But i fearing the same for this season also. As the people who come & give slips of the relevant card holders my name is not been listed as it is new one. Please tell me when this type of things is going to change & get our names in the list.

Actually it is the work of the contesting candidates who have to take the responsibility of making sure all the residents above 18 gets the voter id card as well as name added to the list.

thanks,

U can find your polling booth details

up
119 users have liked.

 Hi Seetharam,

Your name will be there in the voters list if you have the EPIC card I presume.

Pl look for the polling booth details box at the left corner of this page. If you do an advanced search using the data as given in your new EPIC card you will get your polling booth details. It is too late to change the polling booth where you can vote, if that is what you want at this stage.

As for the other sentiments mentioned by you, the parties do help and get the EPIC cards of less educated people. I agree with your sentiment that they should help  others too for their benefit. However these people may be thinking that educated people are more responcible and capable to get their EPIC cards. They also know that many educated people seldom voted in prevous elections! (I am for one, not any more)

Voting booths are already marked - walk around & find it...

up
110 users have liked.

Hi rAm

Only if your name is on the electoral list you will be provided with an EPIC.

I just made a survey as to how EC has been proactive about marking the booths, the LS seat number, part of the electoral roll that is attached to that particular booth, whether 100 meters demarcation has been done in a few areas in Mysore.

I was happy to find that EC has already identified the govt./corpn.school buildings/government buildings etc., and they have painted the Lok Sabha seat Number /booth number and part numbers of electoral rolls attached to that particular booth in yellow/black, right in front of the buildings and have also marked 100 meters lines within which no political or other activitiy is allowed.  Let us be a little more responsible, walk around and find out where exactly our booth is marked, instead of waiting for somebody to hand hold and lead us to the booth.

Reg. elected representastives taking responsibility of ensuring their citizens names in the voters list, some (though not all) MLAs/MPs have their offices where constituency electoral lists are kept, forms 6,7,8 etc., are available to enable citizens to submit their applications to the EC for enumeration.  But since it is we who vote, it is our responsibility also to see that our names exist on the voters list.

Thanks, Mr PSA
But as a responsible citizen i have applied for id card & went through all the process & got the voter id card.
Even then if it misses my no. in the list , Then whom shall i  blame. And whom should we contact as we miss the opportunity for voting as our name is not on the list.

Even govt. said that even if you don't have EPIC show some proof & vote if you are listed in the list.

Then what is the solution for the EPIC holders Whose name hasn't appeared on the list.

In this case what should be done, What are the steps shoud be taken to get the right to vote after having EPIC.

If you have an EPIC card

If you have an EPIC card issued several years back there is a risk of the names having been removed by subsequent enumerations. The to-days TOI has a report. It is possible now to update your details online at the Voter Facilitation Centers (VFCs). Please check.

 Hi Seetaram,

Did you check by the advanced search which is provided at the Praja site dude? Pl check and let us know. If you have obtained the EPIC recently, it (your name) will be there. If it is not there go to a Voter Facilitation Center which is nearest to your residence. You can get help to add your name there on line. If in difficulty, please ask for your local ward Office, OK?

I am pretty much satisfied by the way Election Commission has improved the process of current Elections when compared to earlier times.

I hope I have made my self absolutely clear. If not call me at 4126-9814. I will be glad to help.
