Group to organize Mobilicity workshops along with CiSTUP

Some folks at Praja are working with CiSTUP to organize solution focused workshop on public transportation. The workshop is being organized on the sidelines of CiSTUP foundation day events. The technical sessions being planned are:

Poor show by BMTC drivers

Despite many efforts and initiatives to improve driving skills of drivers of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), results have not matched the expectations. According to data available, this year (till December) 82 people have died in various accidents involving BMTC buses.The number of deaths recorded last year was also 82.

Local Rail for Bengaluru with existing rail lines

Here is a suggestion to solve Bangalore's traffic problems, also crop up a series of improvements. Railways as mass rapid transport system can play a very big role in solving this problem. Bangalore has railway lines in almost all the directions. It is feasible to ply local trains on these lines.

I do understand some of the concerns you have raised , these can be reduced/fixed using various options.

1.Some company like Infosys/ Satyam would like to maximum put up their hoardings in the stations which would anyways be the case even if we do not lease out the station to them.
