Underpass at Tagore Circle - End of Gandhi Bazaar?

InfrastructureTraffic

The pleasure of shopping on Gandhi Bazaar Main Road in Basavanagudi may be lost forever, if the underpass at Tagore Circle at the beginning of the road materializes. Yes, this proposal now seems to have moved and Deccan Herald has published traffic diversions to accommodate this project. I have put in all the pieces in a hurry. Sorry for any editing lapses.

Traffic finally flows across CBI Jn Magic Box

Infrastructure

Finally The CBI Jn seems to be open to public, Not sure if some lessons have been learnt... There is no tar on the road still! Its got this "super rubble" finish that tests out vehicle road fitness!!!

How infrastructure projects get delayed and stopped

Infrastructure

The ROB at Whitefield is delayed because of inability of the parties (tenderer and tenderee) to work out a commodity rise formula. As noted in the following article, because of unexpected and steep rise in steel and cement prices, the tenderee could not complete the project and had to cite force majeure clause.

New underpasses/flyovers on ORR - a suggestion

Public Transport

Marathahalli UnderpassYou may have noticed that Outer Ring Road upgrade work is picking up serious momentum. Work on service lanes is in full swing, and it seems like survey work is on for the new underpass/flyovers as well. So if all goes well, we should have a nice six lane "corridor" from Hebbal to silk board junction. Good show indeed! At the same time, it'll be good to look ahead at the impact of this ORR upgrade project.

Chronology of a Project - Anjaneya Temple Flyover

Driving on Mysore Road daily can be a nightmare. Choke points are many - in fact, I cannot think of any better candidate for SB's 'model road demonstration' project!

One of the many such chronic choke points, Junction in front of Gali Anjaneya Temple, was (and still is) to get a flyover. Here is how the project went:

BBMP's Koramangala flyover - wanna track it to death?

BBMP website's RTI section has the RFP uploaded for grade separator being planned at the junction of 100 ft Inner Ring Road in Koramangala (click here). How about an experiment to give chance for members, even the remote/online-only ones, to go beyond posts and comments? Its simple - help us track this project to death, meaning, ask BBMP for details at every milestone.

Urgent - have your say on the magic boxes!

First few thru the Magic Box

Here is a request from a long time Praja member (see email pasted below). Apparently, the ongoing efforts (to slow down the magic boxes) in the High Court might be driven by those who may prefer flyovers over magic boxes. We don't want to get in these battles as there is no way to prove things one way or another. But, if you believe that Bengaluru should first do due diligence with magic boxes before considering flyovers as solution at any intersection, please pitch in by sending a postal letter to BBMP as soon as you can.

Upcoming flyover on ORR at BTM - short sighted?

Traffic

Its flyover time again. BBMP has invited bids for "Consultancy Services For Preparation Of DPR For The Construction Of Grade Separator At The Junction Of Ring Road And 16th Main BTM Layout". (Also see:RFP for this flyover). So once this is done, those heading towards Electronics City, instead of waiting at 16th main signal, they will all wait longer at the silk board signal. And in the evenings, the signal under Jaideva circle flyover will see twice or thrice the amount of waiting traffic it currently does.

Elevated Highway - Silk Board to E-City

Infrastructure

Dear Prajegaley,

Pls lets all start tracking this part of B'lore's Infrastructure too. This was supposed to have been thrown open in the month of June 2008. Now, recently when I was on this stretch, there is a LOT of work still pending [at some points, there are no Columns erected yet !].
