BMTC invites tender for Hebbal TTMC under PPP!

Happened to notice a tender notification on BMTC website for the construction of TTMC at Hebbal.

The Tender document states the site overview to be "..The project site is located in the northern part of the city at Hebbal, measuring about 7.95 acres. The site is situated at the intersection of the National Highway 7 (Bellary Road) and the Outer Ring Road. The intersection along with the Hebbal flyover is an important landmark in the city and is strategically located in terms of connectivity to the new airport at Devanahalli and to different parts of the city.

As per the Bangalore Master Plan 2015, the  site land use is classified as Traffic & Transport  (T&T) category. Currently out of 7.95 acres, about 4.27 acres of the bus depot is operated by BMTC. Depot comprises of maintenance workshop, washing area, fuelling station, stores and administration building. At present, the depot is a base for about 210 buses which includes about 90 Volvo buses..."

June 4 - Bus day is on

4 Jun 2010
Asia/Calcutta

Not much time to interface with BMTC for this month's event, though I am sre Jenny and some others have been on. The Bus Day is very much on for June 4th.

Bus Day campaign needs a named "anchor". If Srivatsava or Bharat or someone else can just keep in touch with BMTC and posting updates from them, that should be good enough. Once in a while meetings with BMTC too will help.

New BMTC routes - K1/K2/K3

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will be introducing three routes called K1, K2 and K3.

The route K1 will connect St John’s Hospital, Sinivagilu, Domlur, Indiranagar Police Station, Ulsoor, Trinity Circle, Mayo Hall, Shivajinagar and adjoining places.

The K2 route passes through Hebbal, Devasandra, M S Ramaiah Hospital, Yeshwanthpur, ISKCON temple and adjoining roads.

K3 connects Basaveshwara bus stand, Vijayanagar MCTC, Sirsi Circle, Chamarajpet, North Road, Basavanagudi, Shanthi Talkies and adjoining roads.

A release from BMTC said that buses along these routes will be made available at a gap of 15 minutes each between 6 am to 11.15 pm.

Here they should have extended K1 upto Cantonment Station.  Also integrating with METRO stations should have been taken care as many places, these buses will be playing close the METRO stations enroot.

BMTC New 35th & 36th Bus Depots

Hi,

I was browsing thru BMTC website & notices they have put Depot No. 35 & 36.  Would anyone know if these depots are operational. I have not heard about the ingauration in newspapers also.

If it is true that the new depots are operation then our Bangalore commuters can breathe in ease for a more comfortable travel. I guess Bangalore will be having the highest inter-city public transport service.

BMTC BusDay - Connectivity from HAL airport to ORR-Sarjapur road

Hats off to BMTC for introducing Busday and especially the Volvo services! i took the bus today to try out. But, faced problems.

I live in Kaggadasapura area. Need to come to HAL Museum first. Then take a bus towards Marathahalli. Then take another bus from Marathahalli towards Outer ring road-Sarjapur. This really makes me think many a times before taking the bus.

a) Could have been better if there is direct service from HAL airport towards ORR-Sarjapur road. Hope BMTC takes note of this and introduce the same by next Busday.

b) Also, from HAL airport or HAL museum, need to take multiple transports or Autos (who usually charges double the meter amount, IF meter is working) to reach GM palya, Malleshpalya, Vignannagar, Kaggadasapura. Considering the not so wide roads in these areas, if BMTC introduces mini buses to cover the following route:

HAL airport - BEML gate - GM palya - Malleshpalya - Vignannagar - Basavanangar - HAL museum

Frequency of buses could be every 15 mins (during peak hours) and every half hour after that, would be nice.

hope the BMTC authorities take notice.

thanks

Sam

Bus Day - May 4th

4 May 2010
Asia/Calcutta

Back to 4th of the month, May bus day is indeed on the 4th date of May.

  • What new experiements or announcements will we see from BMTC?
  • How has BMTC been addressing the volumes of feedback Bus Day event has been generating?
  • Will newly elected corporators join the Bus Day band wagon, and help BMTC improve its information systems and services?

Let us all take the bus once again on the 4th of May, and keep sending feedbacks, posiive or negative to BMTC.

Whitefield - ORR Bus Routes

Hello,

A few thoughts and suggestions on the BMTC Bus services in the Whitefield-KR Puram- ORR areas.

1. Whitefield Saarige (WFS) service - At the outset, this is an excellent idea and it should be promoted more. But the current WFS routes are duplication of existing 500/335/333 routes. That is, the buses start from Marathahalli and go towards ITPL via either of the two routes.

Suggestion - Change route of WFS-2 to : KR Puram --> Hoody Circle --> right turn --> Graphite India --> Brookefields --> Left turn at Kundalahalli gate --> Till Forum value mall on Varthur Road.

Advantages - Varthur Road to KR Puram Tin factory connection; No duplication with any existing routes.
