Came across this project report called "Intelligent Transport System for KSRTC-Mysore". It is a very interesting read. I am still going through this document. The scope for this project is given as:
"...The overall scope of the implementation will consist of design, development, testing, installation, commissioning, training, operations, and management of facilities for a period of three years by the winning bidder. This project is planned to cover 500 Buses, 80 Bus Stops and 2 Bus Terminals having the components of Vehicle Tracking System, Central Control Station, Passenger Information Management System, Communication Sub System, Travel Demand Management, Incident and Emergency Management System, Operational and Maintenance Specification and Fleet Management System..."
For more, read here.
It will be interesting to find if :
- There is any commonality between this system and one the BMTC is trying to introduce?
- How far this is into implementation, if this project has been taken up?

Nothing moving on this front
Nothing is moving on this front. It is just in paper. I am hearing this for the first time.
Mysore needs more buses and routes should be rationalized. It is pure hub-spoke model which needs to be revised.
Good move
This is a very good model, I know quite a few PT systems which leave ops to other parties. Hope they do a good job with the contract and retain pricing with themselves.
thanks
thanks. will read next month
Clarification
The overall scope of the implementation will consist of design, development, testing, installation, commissioning, training, operations, and management of facilities for a period of three years by the winning bidder
@Syed, Just to clarify, my good move comment above was related to the fact this was going to be done by a winning bidder. Which means the report encourages private participation in getting some expertise. I have not read the entire report. I am sure there are good things in there.
