  • Bellary Road Elevated Concerns

    Metro RailTraffic
Krishnaprasad of the hindu reports that DMRCL, which is involved with the high speed rail to BIA, has raised objections to plans for an elevated road corridor between minsk square and hebbal. Apart from this, Govt authorities are also concerned that HSR will eat into road widening efforts that will create a six lane corridor between mekhri circle and hebbal.
  • Metro Rail - A Bad Move?

    Metro RailPublic Transport

This mornings paper confirmed my apprehensions of the Metro Project.

It is really sad to see this shuffling around of people every year almost. A new chief will have to start from scratch again. bring in his own ideas and his own theories which slow down the project.

  • Delhi BRT - Lessons for Bangalore ?

    Metro RailTrafficPublic Transport

It's one of the most controversial infrastructure projects in the country but for all those who said that the Delhi Bus Corridor system was an out and out failure, here is a reality check.

A poll conducted by NDTV shows that there is a sharp divide in opinion on the success of the project between those who use buses on the corridor and those who drive cars on the same stretch.

  • 'No SPV for funding Namma Metro'

Spanner in the works for namma metro again..this time its the planning commission. According to them soft loans from Japan are good for DMRC only..Bangalore should change now to PPP!

  • BMTC – Zones and Routes

    Metro RailPublic Transport

This is not a solution but an attempt to spark off a debate to create a solution

I have tried to work out a method to organize bus travel within Bangalore. The inspiration for this started from London’s Underground – which is based on the concept of zones and lines. I have illustrated my idea of how Bangalore can be divided. It is a combination of the “Spoke” and the “Zone” concept.

Firstly I have divided Bangalore into Zones. Each zone will have one TTMC. See Fig 1 (Click to see original)

  • Lalu Wants Monorail for Patna !

Kuala Lumpur: A trip in the monorail and zipping over the crowded streets here on elevated tracks has convinced visiting Railway Minister Lalu Prasad that India, especially, the capital of his home state Bihar, needs such an advanced transportation facility.

  • Why not extend Namma Metro to BIAL ?

I have been reading at various forums and news papers and it is now clear that the planning authorities goofed up by not thinking about rail connectivity to the new BIAL. Now various suggestions are being made and one that is louder than the rest is that a dedicated rail link be provided from MG Road to the BIAL. Which in my opinion is utterly stupid and expensive.

  • Nostalgia or Need

Work on the Metro Rail on MG Road has begun to progress ....Looking back..... A bird’s eye view of the Parade Grounds had a grassy central area and a large body of water at one corner, surrounded by dense vegetation on its south-western periphery. That brief verdant section, after the rains, momentarily took you to the lush richness of the Malnad. In more recent times, separating the historic military grounds and the road is a splendorous evergreen bush bearing purple-pink flowers, and a walkway. The radiant plant has a hoary background. A French Navy Admiral, Louis Antoine de Bougainville, ‘discovered’ it growing in wild splendour in Brazil in 1768. He carried the exotic plant to the western world from where it eventually found its way to British India, and the famous embankment on South Parade.
