No decision has been taken yet for a metro route to airport. As per latest reports, BMRC is keen on the Thannisandra-Bagalur route (past Nagawara) since it saves on distance and since there is pressure to include airport connectivity by metro rail as part of phase-2 itself.

Whither Suburban Rail??

CM & several MPs /MLAs have requested central govt & railways for Suburban rail for Bengaluru with cost-sharing on 50/50 basis, the budgets are out, but no Suburban Rail for Bengaluru yet, even as the budget makes substantial allocations for Mumbai & Chennai Suburban systems.

The routes chosen under phase-2 for Namma Metro are pretty good, no doubt. However, the east (except for Whitefield) will remain largely unconnected. This will surely get corrected in future phase/s.
