[Posting on behalf of Dr. Rajeev Gowda]. There is tremendous anger, disgust and fear about the actions of the "moral police." We have witnessed attacks on women and threats to our choices as citizens of free India. To enable people all over Bengaluru (and elsewhere) to express their feelings in a Gandhian way, we are conducting a series of simultaneous peace protests.
We request you to participate in these rallies. For a change, instead of people having to go far to express their opinion, the rally is coming to them.
The Plan: At 1:30 pm, on Thursday, February 12, 2009, people will assemble at hubs close to where they work or study. People will voice protest slogans such as "Down with Moral Policing," "Stop Attacks on Women," and "Stand Up for Freedom."
Volunteers will be available to help anchor these rallies. The Bengaluru City Police has been informed about these rallies. You are empowered to organize your own rally, but please inform us at bangalore.unites@gmail.com Please send us pictures, videos, and reports about your local rally so we can display them on our website too. Thanks!

Please pass this message on to everyone who values freedom!

please note!
In Germany, they first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me - and by that time no one was left to speak up - Gustav Neimoller.

Moral policing or supporting immoral behaviour?
I wish to add, continuing with my previous response, that 'moral policing' is itself an absurd term as laws themselves are based on morality and what is right and what is wrong. I also see a complete media bias in projecting this particular issue without any balanced reporting and showing the other side of the issue - the consequences of extreme liberalism.
Those who support extreme liberalism need to understand that what happens elsewhere comes around and starts affecting their own homes. To state that people have a right to do what they like as long as they don't hurt others is too idealistic as someday, this will backfire. On the face of it, the people who indulge in drinking, pubbing, and drugs cause no problems for others. But to believe that these diseases are not contageous is absolutely foolish!
Our media is simply cheating us and making us believe that there is no social consequences of extreme liberalism.
