The adjournment ailment

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said delay in dispensation of justice could well be attributed to the judiciary's almost institutionalized generosity in granting adjournment of hearings and called for its complete abolition.

NICE Road agreement analysis

Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) has been embroiled in controversies from the 1997 when the framework agreement was signed.  Though the agreement itself does not appear to be on a public domain, a good analysis of the mechanics of PPP agreement is attached.  Some excerpts:

BMIC - Why so high toll on NICE road?

Kind of tired now of reading once-in-a-while-news-updates on NICE vs State of Karnataka case in Supreme Court. Also tired of seeing blatant self-promotion (misuse? illegal?) by Mr Ashok Kheny on his state-given PPP land. But more than that, why are the tolls so high on the NICE peripheral road?

Demolition of EWS quarters at Ejipura- Is it legal?

I had been to the protest march this morning and returned sometime back. It looks like the demolition cannot be stopped. Here are some events which unfolded.

  • BBMP commissioner had aparently agreed to stay the demolition for the next 2-3 months as consideration (children's education will be impacted.) However, no written commitment (the usual thing)

I was reading through some of the BRTS all over the world both failed and success stories. I wanted to check how feasible to implement this in Bangalore and is there any other alternative to improve the existing system. The major reasons of BRTS failure are:

Namma Railu: Socio-Politico Considerations!

Somewhere along, Namma Railu - campaign for Commuter Rail Service (CRS) in Bengaluru, could not make the immense socio-economic benefits stand out to convince the citizen's at large and move the politicians in the direction of taking the lead in getting it approved and implemented.
