Is a surface LRT system suitable for Bangalore ?

The city is desperately in need of some additional form of mass transport system to feed the Metro. The choice is essentially between Monorail, LRT or BRT. Some of us believe that a surface LRT is suitable for Bangalore, & that it can assist in reducing street congestion.

Stockholm and Hamburg became the first cities to be named European Green Capital on Monday, Stockholm was commended for beach improvements, high recycling rates, its congestion charging system, an extensive public transport system and carbon emissions that were half the national average. 

KSRTC’s profits are all blown up: CAG

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) overstated profits by a total of Rs 126.42 crore in 2007-08, says the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) for the year. KSRTC, in its accounts earlier, had shown a profit Rs 40.54 crore in 2007-08. This means the KSRTC had actually incurred a loss of Rs 85.88 crore in 2007-08.
