There is a pavement in BHEL

There is a pavement in BHEL Layout ward no 198 Hemmigepura. A pit has been dug to plant a sapling, however the sapling has not been planted and the pit has now become a cesspool of diseases.

This part of pavement is adjoining a lovely park located in BHEL Layout. A verdant stretch has an eyesore adjoining it. The park should be renamed "Viridity Amidst Squalor".

Numerous complaints have been made to BBMP and BWSSB about this. Apparently, there is a problem with the pavement as it has been built on a drain. BWSSB has been doing some drain related work now and a new manhole has been constructed. The pit still remains open and our nostrils are getting used to the fragrance of drain water when we wait for buses in the morning and evening. What is appalling is the indifference of authorities and residents alike! We also have the August company of mosquitoes in the morning while waiting for buses

The pictures of this cesspool of diseases have been shared with "The Commissioner BBMP" and "The Mayor-Bangalore City"  but no action has been taken. The corporator’s husband who was busy campaigning for the Rail Minister has also gone into hibernation. Despite numerous complaints, he has taken no action. The only time we see her husband is during elections. I doubt whether the man even understands what the problem is forget being able to solve it.

This is a ward reserved for women and Mrs. Veena Nagaraju seems to be a dummy candidate with her husband indulging in back seat driving.

How far BBMP has made difference with court instruction for pedestrian facility in Bangalore. Will BBMP come out and say that they do not have funds to maintain footpaths ???

Poor footpaths: HC warns action against BBMP engineers

The High Court on Monday warned of stringent action against engineers of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for dereliction of duty and failing to implement the court’s earlier orders to make the City’s footpaths pedestrian friendly.

Hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by some residents of Bangalore, a division bench of Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri lashed out at the BBMP after its counsel sought more time to submit its reply to the court’s directions.

“Youcan implement the directions within 15 days, but we gave you three months, still you want more time,” the bench thundered. The Palike’s counsel said that half of the 1,200 footpaths in the City had been repaired and made user friendly following the court’s order. “The rest will be covered in three months and a detailed report will be filed later on,” he said.

var vtn_publisher_id="1076"; var vtn_width="405"; var vtn_height="325"; var vtn_title_flag=1; But the bench was not impressed. “Your corporation is cutting a sorry figure. You have been granted statutory powers. Maintenence is your duty. There are several PILs stating that BBMP is doing nothing. You are not serious,” the bench said and adjourned that matter.

Why BBMP Commissioner and Mayor, Elected  corporators and MLAs do not own the responsibility of this ???  Good that court is  taking  BBMP to task

It's working to some extent

There is a road from Malleswaram 8th cross where the post office is located. Last week I saw that road to be empty more or less. There used to be hardly any space on the road as the vendors with their push cart occupied most of the road leaving about 7-8 ft for people and vehicles. Last week it was empty for a few days. Today I saw that the vendors have occupied the footpath but the road is empty. Thanks to the court and the BBMP. At least people can walk easily. I hope this will continue. Footpaths there are useless anyway.

The trees on the foothpath

The trees on the foothpath about which I had a complaint have been chopped. This is supposed to be part of drain cleaning work. All these were Indian Beech Trees. (Honge) All these trees were three to four years old. BBMP's old timber mafia seems to be at work.

The pit has not been used to plant a sapling but to erect the pillars of an ugly bus shelter. This shelter shall have the name of the incompetent MLA inscribed on it.

BBMP not even talk about greater bangalore or new parts of city

BBMP never ever consider the outer part or newer formed part of the city as inside its boundaries.

Let me be specific about 2 of the road I do visit everyday.

Sarjapura road and kasavanahalli Road.

Lets talk just about sarjapura road. After outer ring road signal, Sarjpura road towards Wipro Corporate office and beyond is in very bad shape. The road and the pedestrian facitilies, car-parking norms etc are not at all considered, while permissions for residential and commercial complexes are being given easily. Everyday a new shop comes up on this busy road, new apartment's advertizement coming up every day. A lot of construction material laden trucks goes on these roads, I assume all with permissions (legal or illegal), but BBMP has never thought about those people who are going to live in those apartments or going to shop in those commercial complexes.

- Where to do they park?

- where do they walk? No footpath at all?

- Where do they drive? All roads having huge potholes?

Why shouldn't BBMP think about all these before giving permissions to these huge residential and commercial complexes?

Why shouldn't BBMP make sure to have good space on the sides of roads before construction of complexes on either side of the road, otherwise later its difficult to take space from owners?

The High Court’s recent

The High Court’s recent warning to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on making the City’s footpaths pedestrian-friendly seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

On September 8, the High Court warned of taking stringent action against Palike engineers for failing to implement the court’s earlier orders to make the City’s footpaths user friendly.

Some of the footpaths that lie in a dilapidated state stand testimony to the fact that the Palike engineers have not paid heed to the Court’s directions neither in the past nor now. As one enters Kasthurba Road from Anil Kumble Circle, a huge transformer on the left side of the pavement catches ones attention. A few steps ahead, one can find electrical boxes.

Not just Kasthurba Road, transformers are located along the footpaths even near UB City and Richmond Road. The situation is worse on Residency Road, a posh lane with many commercial complexes, with vehicles being parked all over the pavement.

“The traffic is always at its peak and there is no place for us to even walk on the footpath. I have witnessed four accidents. Senior citizens and working professionals face many hassles. People should not park their vehicles on Residency Road,” said K Jayaram, who is employed in a firm on the road.

Jaan Bapista, a student at St Joseph’s College, said, “My college is near Richmond Circle, which is in a very bad shape. Garbage is strewn all over the footpath. Electrical boxes block the pedestrians’ path. Some of my collegemates who are visually challenged find it difficult to cross this lane.” From Brigade Road Junction to Mayo Hall bus stand, there are six electrical boxes on the pedestrians’ path.

While BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana was unavailable for comment, Palike engineer-in-chief Rangaraj told Deccan Herald had just this to say. “A few weeks back, the civic agency entrusted the responsibility of taking care of the footpaths and removing encroachments to the zonal chief engineers.”

BBMP has failed to provide basic facility for Bangalore and even Corporators and MLA are equally responsible for this failure,  will citizens of this city teach lesson in the upcoming BBMP elections.
