BMTC is announcing new local shuttle routes for March 4 Bus Day. Instead of smaller multiple local feeder loops, we have a largish loop covering Indiranagar, Domlur and Koramangala. Frequency promised is 10 minutes, so that will help.

City, people, public - mingle on March 4
Who said the job is done!? Sure, the second Bus Day will not get as much publicity as the first one. "Oh, there they go again". So what!? This is our chance, to surprise people.
An event is one thing, and a tradition another. A monthly event gives everyone the chance to do some progressive experiments and thinking. Everyone as in, BMTC, involved organizations and the individuals who'd spread the word. Yes, just take the Bus, and get the rights to crib about what you didn't like, becuase you would be speaking from experience. And if you like the ride, tell the world that public transport is worth it.

Local shuttle ideas for next Bus Day (March 4)
Now that BMTC and Transport Minister have liked the concept, let us make suggestions to make the most, and more immportant. meaningful use of the idea-pad cum marketing event called Bus Day.
For starters, I think we should try do not more than 2 corridors on each Bus day. 5 is a lot to cover and do, there is no point being wide but thin in coverage.
4 March Bus Day - New corridors announced
Got this email from BMTC late last week. Most significant part in there is
- Confirmation that next Bus Day is on for March 4th
- 5 corridors for next Bus Day: Old Madras Road (new), Bannerghatta Road (new), Old Airport Road, Hosur Road, Sarjapura Road (new).
New Corridor means extra buses, more cops at key points on the corridors to manage bus traffic, and hopefuly, some local shuttles around these corridors on the day
Here is the note received from BMTC:
Next Bus Day - new things to do and try
Its time for next Bus Day, and we assume BMTC is game to convert this to a monthly tradition. With time, the Bus Day should become:

Media report card on just concluded Bus Day initiative!
Here is a media reports round up of the Bus Day initiative we triggered and participated in. Good coverage all around, and going by some of the reports (25% jump in ridership, breather on some corridors etc), looks like the city has made a good beginning. The event is likely to become a permanent fixture on BMTC's and Bengaluru's calendar. Lets hope BMTC will act fast on all the feedback the event generated for them.
Deccan Herald - Commuters give thumbs up ...
Share your Bus day experiences here
First of all, my sincere thanks to all the Praja members who worked very hard to publicize this event wide and far. Result is that it has reached more than 40k population in IT companies just by Praja efforts alone. Today's news papers are full with Bus Day buzz and Praja is being given credit for its excellent web presence and information.

Attempt was to keep it short and simple. And it was posted outside the project section for wider visiblity.
