Big bong budget
Electrification of Mysore Track neglected
Mamataji's proposal is to introduce of Double Decker trains. Bengaluru-Mysoru route is eminently suited for this experiment and there is traffic. If I am right, once upon a time there was such a train between Bengaluru and Chennai - what happened to it is not known ??
It is a pity that this particular work is yet to be completed and why there is such step motherly treatment despite spending so much of money resulting in locking up of public money/unfruitful expenditure?
What are the MPs of Karnataka doing?

New trains, new lines not based on any need based plans?
The story remains same as that of the previous years budget. It is very gladdening news that this time Karnataka got few more goodies compare to previous years and also over what others states got this year. This is the root of the issues that we as Indians need to address.
Expansion, development and augmenting services should be based on actual needs of the country & its people and economic viability. Indian Railways operational philosophy of adding new services solely based on politics of minister's home state and future elections is the major reason for all the injustice cries that we hear year after year.
The results of 60 years of wrong policies and plans is evident in the data collected for the Railways foot print in Karnataka. http://praja.in/gyan/district-todistrict-train-connectivity-matrix.
Moving forward in the era of new spirit of reforms in every sector, it is time Indian Railways also go for massive reforms in its operations, expansions and development. Time for a 2020 plan.
Some positive signs, but still plenty of inertia.
Hi,
3.New trains
One more that you missed out was Bangalore-Nizamuddin Rajdhani (Tri-Weekly)
Bangalore- Hubli –Solapur Superfast (Tri-weekly)
Mysore- Yesvantpur Express (Daily)
Shimoga- Bangalore Intercity Express (Daily)
Better connectivity between Bangalore and surrounding districts.
5.New lines
Kottur-Harihar
Work is 80% complete and the line is expected to be ready by the end of this financial year.
Madanapalle Road -Dharamavaram of Dharmavaram-Pakala
This line is entirely in AP and not Karnataka.
Anekal Road-Bidadi
Very interesting. An attempt at creating a circular network in Bangalore?
6.Doubling
Yesvantpur-Yelahanka, Yelahanka-Chennasandra
This is crucial. It should clear the way for the CRS link to BIAL. At present, SWR has been citing mainline congestion upto Yelahanka as the reason for not taking up the CRS link. Once these lines are complete, they will clear the bottleneck upto Yelahanka. Some remodelling of Yelahanka station and the CRS link should be on its way.

Running train renamed as Yeshwantpur-Mysore Express
Already running Bangalore-Mysore as summer/winter special which leaves Mysore at 11:45 am and bangalore at 3PM has been extended to Yeshwantpur. There is no new train for Bangalore-Mysore section in this budget.
Is government of India copying our posts...:-)
In one of yesterday's press release made by verrappa moily thanking the railway minister through press information bureau, they seem to have done a ctrl+C and ctrl+v from this post, without bothering to make any correction in my original post, which have been pointed out by SB_YPR. "Even they have missed out on
Bangalore-Nizamuddin Rajdhani (Tri-Weekly)".
Even they added kottur-harihar as new line, which is a line in progress scheduled for completion this year end.
"Madanapalle Road -Dharamavaram of Dharmavaram-Pakala'
This line is entirely in AP and not Karnataka. Even the numbering is the same...:-). Only thing they have done is replace '@' with at.
This cannot be coincidence. Looks like someone right up there in the central government is watching praja keenly or was such a slack, didn't bother to correct the mistakes in the post.. Find below the link to the press release

Vinod
Thats incredible
If this is true, then cheers to you and SB_YPR.
If we keep talking sense, non-rhetorical and constructive stuff, things will invariably find a way. Let us just keep at it.
BTW, there are several other examples like this. But we are not in the habbit of putting up sections like "success stories" or "media coverage" etc. Those things are self defeating in the long run.

Update - Bangalore-Shimoga intercity express
Friends,
Update on Bangalore - Shimoga intercity express.
Minister of state for railways K H Muniyappa told Deccan Herald on Thursday that the date would be decided at a meeting that he would hold on October 22 with Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee who has evinced interest in inaugurating it herself.
The train was to be flagged off on October 6 but it was put off because of the devastating floods that hit northern Karnataka. The new train was announced in the 2009-10 railway budget.
