Encouraging the IT sector to realise the business opportunity in the power sector, Minister of State for Power, Jairam Ramesh, said on Thursday that the Centre was planning to infuse technology into the power distribution of the country and replicate the success of IT in the power sector.

I always wondered what is the real cost of things we buy. I realized, you can buy an LED torch for Rs. 25! How does it work out? Bill of materials should be less than Rs. 10 and labour another Rs. 5! Wow!! We usually push it aside saying "Chinese", as though its a complete explanation. But is the real cost of the product? I always wondered there has to be more to it - the hidden costs.

Real Estate prices in Mangalore have been increasing by leaps & bounds. An article in TOI today (15th/Oct) states that several 1-crore-plus apartment blocks are being constructed with heavy demand. This is astonishing since all Metros are facing a slump & prices have in fact dropped in certain areas, such as Whitefield in Bangalore.
