So, now with ABIDE, Vision Group, Regional Imbalances Correction Panel, Knowledge Commission, and I don't know what else, a lot of 'thinking' is supposed to happen. Can we hopev for the right direction to evolve, followed by action, remain the important questions.

Ms P's comments:

You said it!  With all these 'Groups' and 'Think-tanks' galore, we shouldn't just hope that some results are finally achieved for our state. We, the people/citizens, should ensure that the right things are done during IMPLEMENTATION, which is where all the things go wrong (some think the cause is only inefficiency, but I believe it is moer of corruption and misappropriation!?), and the end results are far from the "Vision" that was initially visualized. I believe you and others, who are interested and can do something in the realm of 'Action,' should definitely put in your efforts. I shall definitely be available to do things or just stand on the sidelines and cheer. Cheerleaders are also very important!

The Vision group is a Task force, but it also has a ready made plan in front of it which is prepared by the notorious Delhi Jal Board case Price Waterhouse Coopers which was outsourced the task when there was Presidents rule by the planning dept which was found to have no capacity.

It remains to be seen whether the people in the task force will just nod their assent to the PWC- GoK Vision 2020 plan or any new thoughts will emerge.

Anyway about 10 new task forces are set up and 4 different people from Infosys are in 4 seperate ones....

RC added:

Generally these groups are unable to achieve as much as they want because of reasons beyond their control. However the fact that such a group ahs been set up is an opportunity to influence the individuals through the media and even by direct contact with the members. They are well aware that they are an advisory group and would welcome suggestions by the public which they can quote as such or improve on. Effectively we should think of them as our repertoires!

All of them have had illustrious careers and are competent. They have succeeded because they have got their own and others ideas and put them together and there is no reason for them to do it any differently in this situation. They will propose the right things but as P says we the citizens have to pursue the implementation.

TV added:

Though I don’t endorse the actions of CM by not showing the magnanimity while dealing with Church damages, I agree with his attempt to find solutions to vast issues concerning the State by consultation with different groups of society. Groups could be more inclusive in nature. As V go on probably this may happen, I guess. Most think that they are experts and they need to be consulted.
