This news report is utterly shocking. What is even more surprising is there is not one word of protest in the country. Read:

A note to Praja members

We encourage "news sharing". However, we have a request for all - please do not post full news articles from elsewhere. Provide a link, and a summary of what is covered in there. If you can add more to what the article says, the better. It seems like a harmless thing to do, and we don't realize it, but reproducing other's content without permission is not an ethical or legal thing to do.

Please help Praja.in stay clear of accusations of copying and plagiarism.

There are no clear policies on "fair use/referral" in our country yet for such things, but lets follow this - Provide a link, summary, and quote at max 20% of original content.

So far, we have been "correcting" such posts, but it will help if we all "share news" in ethically correct ways.

[PS: Sorry blrpraj - not picking on you or anything, just wanted to pick one post as example.]

More moral policing

Saw this in the Hindu today

http://www.hindu.com/2008/09/08/stories/2008090861101000.htm

We will pay the price for our silence on this.  Once we allow snakes (sorry to insult snakes) to breed in our compounds, we should expect to get bitten.

There is an excellent piece by Pastor Niemoller who said the following lines during Hitler's times about keeping quiet and looking the other way.

"First they came for the communists, I said nothing as I was not one

Then they came for the trade unionists, I said nothing as I was not one

Then they came for the Jews, I said nothing as I was not a Jew

Then they came for me and there was no one left to say anything"

need to take up with the Home Minister

This is indeed sad. Perhaps, we need to ask Mr V S Acharya, the Home Minister, to keep a check on his 'Parivaar' members.

Danger!

Its horrible, the regime that these parties are trying to create. It takes away the basic right of freedom from individuals. And very aptly comapred to the Taliban Regime in Afghanistan. It shows how "Secular" we truly are! Maybe we require a new act like POTA, to counter such organisations. Unfortunately most of these groups ur politically linked, and we actually vote them to power in some states giving them a stronger foothold! One way to overcome in the long run, is to make sure such organisations do not multiply and we create secularism in its true form as part of ou education syllabus!

BJPs True Colours?

after 100 days, Is this the begining of the end, or the end of the begining? I have started seeing a lot of reports on religious violence, attacks by Bajrang Dal and other Hidutva Organisations. those who seemed quiet under congress/JDs rule seem to have taken law into thier own hands now.

This article  in TOI today, is very contreversial.

" Senior BJP leader V Dhananjay Kumar feels unauthorized churches should be closed down, but not unauthorized temples....................and said there was no need for a survey or action against unauthorized temples"

Such remarks are appalling andshowcase a very scary future. We seemed to have lost our sense of secular country theory.

This in my view slowly will lead to moral policing. First they tell you who to follow, then whom to marry, then whom to sit next to and lastly who to die for!

Personally I am non-religious. I don't advocate any religon, and nor do I belive I should be advocated to any. Pressure to join any religion would only distance me further from it.
