On Sunday, April 27th, cyclists from all parts of the city will get an opportunity to cycle from one of the four corners of Bangalore city and come together at The Chancery, off M.G. Road where various cycling activities will take place, including a cycling and environmental quiz, cycling races and games. The event will start at 8:30 a.m. and finish by 12:00 noon
Specific starting points:
Jayanagar: It starts off at the entrance of Jayanager Stadium. The cyclists will pass through Ashoka Pillar, Double Road and then finally MG Road
Sadashivnagar: It starts off at Sankey Tank. The cyclists will pass through Vasanth Nagar, Infantry Road and then finally MG Road
Koramangala : It starts off at Bethany School Grounds. The cyclists will pass through Viveknagar, Residency road and then finally MG Road
Cox Town: Starts off at Wheeler Road (opp. Food World, front of Gymkhana). Cyclists will pass through Wheeler Road, Ulsoor Lake and then finally MG Road

I'll Just wish atleast on wknds if we can use cycles - it will be great. If people who live closer to work say 5 kms stretch from their home to work can use cycles everyday or atleast 3 times a week it will make a lot of difference to the environment. thanks for the video TS - I felt like I was in Bangalore :)
Mumbai catches up
This Sunday, more than 6,000 Mumbaikars have vowed to leave their wheels at home and reclaim the city’s streets to observe Car Free Day – an event that claims to have spread to 1,500 cities in 40 countries since its conceptualization nearly seventeen years ago. This paper first reported Mumbai’s participation in the event in one of its hyper-local pullouts. - - - - To help wean people from their dependence on cars and promote awareness on more eco-friendly ways of commuting, the organizers – Greenmile Foundation and Baramati Welfare Organization – have planned a 20-km bikeathon and a 10-km walkathon in south Mumbai on November 27. The scenic and historic route, which starts at Azad Maidan and CST, and covers Hutatma Chowk, Ballard Estate, Mantralaya, Nariman Point, Marine Drive and Girgaum Chowpatty, will end at Mumbai Gymkhana.

Though Namma Bengaluru was perhaps among the first Indian cities to take the lead in the matter, as far back as in April '08, the movement has not caught on. The city has to become car-free to a great extent sooner or later. The faster we do it, the better it is for all of us.
