Shortcut routes for Buses

BMTC buses take the main roads whereas private transport takes the short cut routes wherever possible. This in comparison will increase the travel time of BMTC buses as against private transport making  private transport more attractive.

Buses - largest fleet, still crowded?

We often read announcements by the BMTC authorities that Bengaluru bus fleet is the largest in India or Asia. Where are the buses?

State of Pedestrians in Bangalore

Footpaths: This film was made by Samarth Saran, Saumya Tyagi and Bharat Sharma — a team of three people from the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media, Bangalore who took part in the short-film making competition held at IIM Ahmedabad’s flagship management festival Confluence 2010.

Transport Mafia in Kalasipalyam

I have been trying to complain against the issue of the Transport mafia in our locality in bangalore. However i am getting no response from the police department or BBMP . This locality is one of the oldest areas , but unfortunately has been severely neglected. We the residents of

'development' under police protection

Is this how people are excluded from the way policy and schemes are implemented?

Sky-walk, literally

The BBMP, it would appear, likes to impart literal meaning to the term sky-walk. This set (pictures below), coming up at the High Grounds junction (facing the Sophia school, and behind Basava Bhavan), has a ground clearance enough for a BMTC bus to pass under, even with a full grown adult standing erect on top.

The Radia Tapes

I'm sure a lot of Praja users have read about and listened to The Radia Tapes and derived a lot of joy and/or sorrow out of them. Others may not be aware of where to access them since the media has virtually blacked out the news, except for some old fogies like The Hindu, Outlook magazine, and DH today and disrespectful upstarts like Open magazine.

What is this MUSS Maintenance Outage?

I was reading the news paper this morning.  As is common in the weekend, there was this regular headline which went like "Power Shutdown in Several Areas Today".  The article went on to say that due to 66/11 kV "C" Station Maintenance Work, there will be no power in a large swathe of Bangalore in the general Shivaji Nagar area from 10 am to 6pm.

Bangalore to Whitefield on Pushpulls

Though my office is in Electronic City, for a new project I had to visit our company's branch office in GRTechPark, Whitefield  for 3 days. This building is next to ITPL.  I had to take public transport on all 3 days  to reach the office  in the afternoons while the drop back home would be provided on the company cab as it would be late in the night.

Metro Ph II to HSR..why Monorail?

So the routes, at least the end points, are finally out from the DPR for PH II. I still dont understand what makes the DMRCL a better authority to develop these reports, no Idea of what traffic studies were done and what surveys were done..never heard of any..thought these are the basic inputs for putting out a plan report..

Is Yeddy misusing BMTC buses?

Wouldn't you like to know if Yeddy is paying from his pocket for the self promoting Ads that are appearing on the back of BMTC Buses? If Karnataka government is paying for these ads, then what is the justification for this spending? Even if there is a legally justifiable reason, why should these ads have full body picture of Yeddy?

BMTC and publishing bus timings

We all know that BMTC can't maintain a simple web site with details about their services and timings.

Is it possible to get an Excel sheet with all their routes and timings in regular intervals?

I remember seeing one before the first Bus Day. After that, I haven't seen an updated one.

Should we offer help in putting one together?

BESCOM sanctioned load and Fire pumps

Multi-storied apartments in Bangalore are starting to have issues with BESCOM sanctioned load and fire pumps. Though what follows pertains to the apartment where I stay (Brigade Millennium Mayflower in JP Nagar 7th Phase), it would be applicable to several apartments all over Bangalore.
