Whitefield suburb - upcoming road work

Spotted this tender recently on BBMP website. Have a look, a lot of roadwork coming up in Mahadevapura, Marathahalli and Whitefield sub-divisions - about 6 crore worth of work for each.

How about we track this work? Basically, write to BBMP and ask them to publish the deadlines, actual money spent, what standards will be used to determine completion of work etc? Anyone interested? 3-4 of us can try do this together as an experiement to see how much effort it takes for citizens to really be in the know.

Will start by calling the phone # on the tender to ask for info on standards, and schedules. Got to start doing 1 or 2 things like these to grow beyond being a regular group blog.

standards i think they have pat, what after HC whippings. schedules are more interesting. also interesting are details like why goshala road is only up for widening and not widening coz it could could a difference. why are all the tenders under a crore? is this some sort of a scheme to let in favoured/related contractors? like the mysore road could this all have been better done by the NCCs, L&Ts and gammons? bigger multi hundred crore contractors? projects done more transparently?

do this in a way to make anyone feel we are spying after monetary aspects (amounts, contractors, how as it awarded etc). Getting into those things is dangerous, and frankly not our job. I just want to know how you decided what needed to be done (why not that road over this road types), the standards (should all footpaths also be completed as part of this work) and schedules (how do you decide them, and how do you track). It should be like - hey, I am interested and concerned. If it comes across like - hey, I want to question what you are doing - that wouldn't take anyone anywhere.
