Apr 16th works better!
IDS,
Apr 16 would work better as it gives more time for people to plan.

Karmelram? What is it?
For the past few weeks now, I have been using this station. It saves money and time as I don't have to go all the way to the city railway station, which is an ordeal by road during peak hours- said Kartik Kumar, an IT professional and a regular commuter.

The term YH1 and HY1 is unoffical now. It is now re-numbered as 06591/92 isn the morning and 06593/94 in the evening. The term zero indicates it is still running as a special and hasnt been officially introduced for permanency sake
Meeting went well.
On Morning Yesvanthpur to Hosur Train, we had nice meet with 9 people coming to-gether.
Devadas, Muralidhar Rao, Pranav, Deepak, Raja, Sanjay, Sathya & myself boarded at different station on the way.
Thanks to Mr Ravichander who came all the way from Rammurthy Nagar to Hebbal station to met us as he could't make it for the Train.
Mr Deavadas had got the map printed in A3 sheet for discussion. We discussed with fellow passengers who use this morning & evening train for office travel.
Mr Banu Prakash co-passenger was very much impressed about our efforts & he will communicate to his friends on the Commuter Rail. We did talk to many of the people in the train & at Hosur on the Commuter Rail demand.
We had one page write up on commuter rail for general public which was in english, distributed to passangers to make them aware that Commuter Rail Project for Bangalore & its suburbs is going on, public need to demand for full fledge service.
Had good coffee / tea at Hosur station.
Thanks to all for making it in the early morning.
Others kindly update on your inputs & photos of the trip.

The government had decided to constitute a coordination committee under the chairmanship of State Chief Secretary S. V. Ranganath and railway officials to monitor the progress of works, he said.
The committee would meet every month, it was decided at the meeting, which was attended by officials from the State and Ministry of Railways.
Good to see that CS S. V. Ranganath and railway officials to mon
This is good thing happening. As CS is very much positive on Commuter Rail and he is well aware of the Demand, looking to see further development on Commuter Rail under the leadership of CS S V Ranganath.
Have we interacted with CS S V Ranganath and others
Have we interacted with CS S V Ranganath and others in this team .
If not, Is it right time to take an appointment with them .

Loksatta & CRS
I am surprised the same party does not do the same in Bangalore, not even come out in support of commuter rail system. Sad really
Did we reach LS formally/informally?
IDS,
Did we try reaching out to LS for their support?
-Syed
So who reached them formally
So who reached them formally in Hyd? Murali & Aswin are in touch with people in Loksatta, nothing prevents them from taking up the cause.

Hi Guys,
Do you have any plans to meet again in the next month & a half as i would be in India during this time?
If no plans yet then request all to meet and discuss further strategies so that atleast by next budget its finds a mention, what say?
When is the next meeting?
Dear All,
I am a new comer to this group and deeply interested in the issue. I have been doing my own research on this aspect and glad to know about the progress the group has already made in collecting the data, evangelizing the concept and also pursuing with the authorities. I would like to participate and contribute whatever way possible.
Please let me know when the group plans the next meeting. I stay at Yeswanthpur.
Thanks,
Bhushan
data gathering
Its kind of hard to work with govts in coma. They should atleast be awake.
Anyway most of us are tied up with work & in data gathering mode, lot of SCR/MMTS stuff is up in other thread, more is on the way. Enough fodder around to show this is a bummer, People must want it enough to kick some backsides and get it done.
We can do a face to face meeting early June, if something comes up we can meet earlier. Until then lets talk on the site.
@Bhushan - You can help!
Bhushan,
Thanks for showing support and eagerness to be part of the NR team. Until the meeting takes place you can help with a trip to Hosur.
Since you reside in YPR, on any weekday mornings, take the YPR-Hosur train and experience the travel in the commuter train. Make a post on the PRAJA with all your observations and thoughts on Peoposed Namma Railu service.
-Syed
Namma Railu - How to gather momentum.
Syed,
Sure. I will try to take this YPR-Hosur train in coming weeks and report back to the group.
All,
I feel we need not loose hope since we didn't get any support in the recent budget.
I was just reading an email from awaaz.org rearding its recent success due to Web 2.0 tools and social media. I have included it below how this is reported in the press.
Hence, I suggest that we shall start gathering the support from "Namma Railu" on the internet. This might help in getting Govt attention. If atleast we can get the "Railways" to commission a team to investigate and report back that can be our initial target.
Thanks,
Bhushan

Support exists
since we didn't get any support in the recent budget.
That is not correct. Kar budget has explicitly mentioned Commuter Rail will be taken up & Union budget has mentioned any state can approach IR to form SPV's & take it forward. Explict mention of an SPV on the lines of KRVC has not happened in the union budget.
As regards actual implementation, I dont know if it is coma induced or otherwise, forward momentum does not exist. Prioritization & action is missing.
Should we file a PIL with Lokayukta?
DNAIndia reports a action taken report with regard to "Shirdi Ghatt" road upgrade after the filing of an PIL with Karntaka LA.

Should we file the PIL for CRS?
Should we file the PIL for
Should we file the PIL for CRS?
Yes, ultimately we may have to. I can only say "if not now, when?" :)
Write to Lokayuktha
PIL did not work in Shiradi ghat, but a letter to lokayuktha did the job, that is what the above report says. I dont think we can file a PIL with lokayuktha. We can write a letter to lokayuktha, or even submit one in person in his office. We can take his appointment on some Saturday.
lokayukta
there is a case for providing convenient/economical and efficient transport for ordinary people which will also save the city from eco degrade.
the powers that be are not keen to go in for this mode for reasons best known.
lokayukta is a custodian of civil society and since we have knocked at all other doors, it is appropriate to bring to his notice first in writing followed up by meet.
devadas
WIll write to Lokayukta
WIll write to Lokayukta & see if I can set up a meeting. In parellel we should explore the PIL track, let me know if any of you can identify a good lawyer who wil take up this cause.
PIL with LA not with Court!
@rackstar
PIL did not work in Shiradi ghat, but a letter to lokayuktha did the job, that is what the above report says.
There is some correction needed here. It is indeed PIL with LA. This is what DNA reports
Government is indeed in COMA!
Recent Supreme Court comments about Karnataka Government is in 'COMA' seems to be visible in Bangalore Traffic scenario on daily basis.

Let us approach Lokayukta.
All,
I also agree that we should approach Lokayukta. It seems to me that nobody in the Govt is interested in solving the transportation problem of Bangalore. Let us hope if this route helps.
If we need to go as a group, I am willing to join the team to meet Lokayukta. Before that we may want to draft a letter outlining the issues and what is that we want Lokayukta to do.
Thanks,
Bhushan
