Metro OR Suburban train to KIA?

So its that time of the year again, expectations from the budget abt announcements on suburban rail and no doubt madam FM did say few words on the issue but also left a lot for speculation. And then the news items abt the train link to the trumpet interchange near KIA that has started some invigorated discussions on social media.

Update on Koramangala projects

With the Ward Committee's largely dysfunctional (check here), I am appending below my version (gathered from exchanges on various WhatsApp groups, and hearsay - if anyone has more authentic info, they are most welcome to correct me) of a

Metro, not NimBus (BPS) , needed for ORR

The govt along with various organizations like DULT is gearing up for the launch of  NimBus or the Bus Priority System(BPS) planned on the ORR. This, on the outset, seems a sane decision, probably a little late in coming though.. This is because the weird designs of flyovers, with separated elevated sections, btw Silkboard and KR puram ,were done originally to accommodate a BRT system.

BBMP seeks public help to fix plan violations

It seems straight out of the STASI manual from earstwhile East Germany, where folks within families were known to spy on each other. But however weird it seems, BBMP plan to get public/neighbours to check on by-law violations might just as well work.

An outline for a most equitable public bus transport model

There had been estimates from long that the city needed far more buses than the BMTC was operating, and it was also known that the need was being partially met by the private operators. But, nobody knew that between the private operators and the schools, there were over 6 times the numbers operated by BMTC.

Bengaluru footpath issues/solution

Bangalore footpaths are unusable at many places and the result is that pedestrians are forced onto the roads where they run a risk of getting hit by vehicular traffic. Many interesting videos are done to show this problem. A recent one by Malleshwaram Socail  is here below:

Fear and Tender S.U.R.E

First would like to start with saying that Tender SURE was indeed a ground breaking effort, literally too, in many ways. Uniform Carriage way and few other principles which are new and commendable.

Bellandur - Varthur wetland encroachments

The saga of encroachments and land grabbing on Bellandur lake is very painful to say the least. Its a prime example of how a historical waterbody has been turned to waste just because of human greed.

Sanity at Silkboard!

Now that there are land acquistion and the tendering issues to be resolved to sort the grand silkboard road plan, which BMRCL attempted to implement. Also, the double decker work is still on, starting from the marenahalli end.

There is a need a less ambitious practical solution which can be implemented to completion.

Koramangala 4th block flood mitigation plan

A few weeks back, there was an announcement of the commencement of work on the subject plan, with a pooja, presided over by the BTM layout (under which Assembly constituency, the area falls) MLA, Sri Ramalinga Reddy.

The announcement talked about laying of pipelines along the 80 ft road (Google terms it "Srinivagilu main road"), in the vicinit
