Stop communal, divisive and hate politics - Petition

Moderator's Note #1: Not deleting this post to showcase it as an example of something that may not fit one or more of our posting guidelines. Praja posts should be fact driven (not opinions), and should be local in "real" sense. Local is something at the level of mains and crosses, or citizen's issues specific to a given city. We are not here to discuss nationwide issues or ideologies because we can't realistically do much about them, at least not right now. Also, posts should not be pure promotion of your favorite websites (please do that via your profile, or signature, but not posts). Remember, the philosophy we promote is "think and act local, really really local", that is how all changes begin.

Waiting for the new Reva?

The advertisements of electric bikes and scooters were everywhere when petrol prices were up in the sky. I wonder how are the sales now. Reva too was running ads back then, but no big news about them recently either. Talking of Reva, after reading around a bit (because I was considering buying it), speaking to a few folks who have also been interested, and two owners, here is what I learned:

State gets its ‘act’ together, hopefully

After an interminably long sitting on tabling of the Karnataka Police Act for more than a year, the state government has decided to implement the Act through an executive order to avoid a possible embarrassment when the monitoring committee set up by the Apex Court would come for a visit later this month.

Moral policing, Ragging, Corruption and Angst

According to Soli Sorabji, the supreme court called ragging a “ violation of Human Rights”, while a Prevention of Ragging in Colleges and Institutions Bill was introduced in Rajya Sabha in 2005, has not been enacted yet. That surely brings a feeling of outrage and helpless in many of us in this country.

ABIDE - Please put few more proposals in front of Government

I request ABIDe Members like professor Ashwin Mahesh who has been constantly interacting with us to take few more things with the Government.

42.5% of Children are Malnurished in India

Though not typical of Praja discussions, I think this report is worth sharing and pondering about. It moved me so much, couldn't resist bringing up a national issue...
