Forcing medium of instruction - High Court verdict

What does praja say on the call made by the high court? Refer "kannada medium not must" for private schools.

How to make NH7 Safer

EnvironmentTraffic

I had the opportunity to drive down NH7 to the BIA last evening and again this morning. Some of the things that immediately struck me was that Yesterday, the taxis were driving at more reasonable speeds and why? At critical sections of the road there were these "interceptor" vehicles equipped with radar speed guns and were fining offenders on the spot.

I think that this definitely puts the fear into the drivers and will behave? Good going Bangalore Police may you be empowered further :-)

Urban Transportation reforms around the BMLTA concept

Bus

In the telecom space, you have TRAI which is a national level regulatory body. Rightly so, since telecom networks have national footprint through interconnections, it need not be looked at as a state subject. Drawing a parallel for our state, think of extending BMLTA concept - a Karnataka state land transport authority (KSLTA). Why so? Because we want efficient two or three change connectivity from Whitefield to Haradanahalli as well, and not just to Jayanagar or Malleswaram. Just like the primary schools, every region needs good connectivity.

Stake-less stake-holders

Power

One significant drop out from the list of 'stake-holders', compared to the BATF days is Bangalore Telephones.

Road is missing

Hi All

I think this is the first post on mangalore forum. However let me start this with a good cause.

The road near the KSRTC Junction in Bejai Mangalore is in such a pathetic condtion, its worst than the Ghat Section roads. Please make them proper so that at least the vehilces can move on them.

Why India’s Bus Rapid Transit Projects don’t excite me

Public Transport
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) as it is currently planned in India is suggested as the one-size-fit-all solution to our transport woes. Having travelled on Mumbai’s bus service (BEST) for thirty years & London’s public transport since 2001, I can’t share the optimism of those who believe BRT (as it is currently planned) is the way forward. When senior citizens, children & disabled struggle to cross the roads safely, one would hope for a solution that improves all aspects of mobility. I wonder why a city like Pune would spend crores of rupees on BRT when 40% of its roads don’t have pavements (see state of Pune pavements here). That almost a third of Pune citizens commute by walking makes the question more poignant.

Attention shutterbugs and bangalore enthusiasts!! An excellent oppurtunity to show your camers skills and to get some insider gyaan on water in bangalore from S. Vishwanath. The OORU-NEERU Water Walk will look at the Hesarghatta reservoir and its current state. A siphon provided as an overflow mechanism, another unique structure worth a closer look, remnants of a brick aqueduct and a small temple on the bund are some of the other facets that will be looked upon during this walk. http://bcp.wikidot.com/ci... The Hessarghatta Urban Space Event is being organised for the Bangalore City Project by S. Vishwanath, (www.rainwaterclub.org and www.arghyam.org) who writes extensively on water issues.
