Bangalore - the importance to Elections

I attended an internal seminar with the BJP today evening. One prominent leader informed me that Bangalore and surrounding
constituencies have a total of 36 Assembly seats. Hence, any party which wins Bangalore by a large margin will win the entire state.

Smart Cities Put People Before Cars - Lessons for Bangalore

It is no wonder then that the most vibrant cities in America — New York, Boston, San Francisco and Washington — are ones that have been able to curb the voracious appetite of the car for space. The cities we love around the world are the ones that have been able to devote more space to people and less to cars.

Policing the Police

I was on my daily dinner routine. Happened to see this on-duty police person walking out of his official patrol van called ‘Hoysala'. He walked up to the cashier of this local restaurant, grabbed some money, and was matter-of-factly walking back. Not that this was the first time I saw such a thing - but, I don't know what became of me (perhaps Bollywood effect?).

Tarkovsky, Highway And Art

just thought we could take a ride with tarkovsky on the roads of tokyo and while at it get some fundas on cinema.

Facelift for lakes - just new fences or more?

Back in January, BBMP had announced that it planned facelift for 17 lakes in and around the city. Cant find any newspaper articles to quote from, but this blog has it (17 lakes ...).

How does Europe & the rest of the world do it ?

Blrsri - referring to yr post elsewhere, & also in general, some issues that need to be highlighted ---

In USA /Europe & in rapidly developing far-eastern cities, the situation is very different, & solutions are found far more scientifically. They also have the advantage of much smaller populations & a more homogenous mix of users. This makes it easy for them to make changes as & when necessary with minimal objections or agitation. The old city of Rome is an example with very narrow streets, but traffic is very well controlled & directed, with efficient supervision & real-time monitoring.

As I see it, our difficulties are far more numerous & are summarized below.

Sustainable Prosperity, Climate Change Mitigation and Cultural Change

Hi! Here is a primer for a proposed world seminar series to create awareness and mobilise support for action about a new thinking for sustainable prosperity through the 21st Century and possible solutions that we shall need :
