Baner Road - Safety concern

Tried to post this concern in the 'suggestion' portal of Pune Traffic Police, but apparently it is not functional. Was wondering if there is some one in Praja team who is in touch with Pune Traffic police on Safety issues ?

KR Puram bridge area - Good going traffic police!

OMR Ped 1I have waited to post this, 3 weeks to be precise because I want. After after our street photography adventure at OMR/ORR junction, I have been noticing a few changes at this junction of junctions.

The precious little "No violation slip"

Yesterday a very interesting thing happened. While driving on the road, before the never ending construction of Kadugodi railway overbridge, I was ushered by a group of traffic police standing on the roadside to stop. This was right infront of the Whitefield traffic police station.

Enforcers / Violators?

Last evening’s drive home was interesting.

Productive usage of traffic policeman resource

I would suggest to use the traffic policeman in a productive way by reducing the task allotted to them for catching every common man for vehicle documents. There is lot of technology improved why shouldn't the technology flow to the traffic police department.

Drunken drivers on rise in the city

The City Traffic Police statistics this year shows a seven per cent increase in the number of drunken drivers as compared to 2007. This year 29,608 cases have been registered till December 13. In this month alone the Bangalore Traffic West and Traffic East recorded about 957 cases reported against drunken drivers. 27,644 such cases were registered last year.

Traffic Free Zones

I saw this in the times of India today.

Is a surface LRT system suitable for Bangalore ?

The city is desperately in need of some additional form of mass transport system to feed the Metro. The choice is essentially between Monorail, LRT or BRT. Some of us believe that a surface LRT is suitable for Bangalore, & that it can assist in reducing street congestion.

Huge rally - no jams. When was the last time THAT happened!

We spend a lot of words pointing out what's not working. I thought I'll mention something that the authorities got right this time. There was a huge anti-terrorism rally on a workday bang in the centre of the city and the traffic was still flowing pretty freely. For what it's worth I wanted to hail the folks who planned and managed this event. Kudos to Mr. Praveen Sood and Mr. Shankar Bidari I guess!
